2025-01-03 08:04:26 +0000 UTCIt’s been a while since I read/watched berserk but from what I got from this was the difference why Griffith likes guts more then casca/everyone else in or outside the band of the hawk is because guts does not *worship* him like some jesus persona like everyone else does but sees/treats him as a human/friend who goes thru shit. And also Unlike Guts, everybody has some sort of goal/DREAM that hoped Griffith could help deliver like money, power, safety, status and (in casca’s case) love or they simply followed their dream to help GRIFFITHS Dream in this case everyone except Guts, Guts had no such expectation and was just there cause he agreed to join the band of the hawks if he lost the first duel against Griffith. And another reason why, is When Griffith saw Guts fight Bazuso, he was struck by Guts’ reckless abandon and his willingness to die for a chance at a killing blow. For someone like Griffith, driven by boundless ambition, this disregard for self-preservation didn't make sense, but it allowed him to feel more like himself around Guts.

Casca sees it as she worships him, does whatever he says, leads in battle, been there longer, is the only female in the army and yet Guts is closer to Griffith. She also can't be his lover because of the princess. So she's like if I can't be his right hand man/best friend and I can't be his lover then I'm nothing to him no more than an ordinary soldier. She's views herself as nothing to the person that means everything to her.
