We always got the back and forth dynamic of him seeming to manipulate her like he did everyone else(tbf, why would you assume otherwise without this context), but now it leaves little doubt that he was doing everything he could for her genuinely, not because he wanted something from her, like he did with everyone else.

2024-11-17 19:09:31 +0000 UTCBasically Vander, Silco, and their parents were all working together to create the free city of Zaun, their dream. They were all very close friends who loved each other very much, but then the war happened and their parents died, and Vander took them to take care of them, which is shocking because when I watched the first season I thought Vander had just stumbled upon some random girls and decided to take care of them so this reveal was great. After he started raising them Vanders priorities changed and he no longer wanted a war, but Silco still believed a war was necessary and that’s why Vander tried to kill him (which is still a little extreme and messed up to me) and that’s what kickstarted everything that happens in episode 3 of Season 1. I’m glad the show gave us this backstory of Vander, Silco, and their parents. It makes what happened to both men so incredibly tragic.
