You never know what someone is going through and it is 100% your responsibility as a front desk operator/clerk/receptionist to greet people who come through the front doors and assist with anything that people who come to your desk need help with in a hospitable manner. Unless you just work for assholes who don't care about that kind of thing, which still wouldn't make it right, it would just mean they're all assholes. Also, even in a good job market it's not easy for everyone to find a job, and you're talking about 2018 which was a recession year, in one of the biggest cities in the US, for someone who's coming off of working one job for the past 15 years -- a job that's probably on its way to being automated anyways. IJS, people be facing real shit, I don't think that's to be laughed at like "yo really she can't find a job?"

The kid who told Tina the job had been filled was being disrespectful by not looking at her, but he’s just acting like a kid. It would be pretty hard and awkward to tell someone “there’s actually no job for you.” I can’t get too mad at some 20 year old. The HR people should have the balls to handle that themselves. They could have sent an email the moment they hired someone else.

The eligibility window for Emmy Award consideration runs from June 1st-May 31st of the following year, and the awards ceremony is normally held in September after the end of the previous television season. The most recent awards ceremony was for TV programs that aired or were released between June 1, 2023 and May 31, 2024. Season 3 of The Bear was released on June 26, 2024, which means it missed the cutoff for the last Emmy ceremony by about a month, just as S2 missed the cutoff for the previous year's Emmy ceremony by about a month. S3 will be eligible for the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, which will be held in September 2025. The timing throws everyone off because S3 was released before Emmy Awards were given out for S2, and S4 will probably be released next June, three months before the awards ceremony where S3 will be eligible. Anyway, it's probably a safe bet that Colon-Zayas will be nominated again next year based on her work on this episode.
