The marines and their personalities are inspired by the marines here. Even some of the technology. The jet they flew in on inspired the Pelican, and that’s littered all over the Halo games.

2024-11-15 04:11:16 +0000 UTCits a little let down that this aliens edition didn't have the sentry gun sequence. I wished they included those parts in this one. In the extended edition of aliens, They had put out a few sentry guns in the hallway to guard the barricaded doors they sealed that leads to the area they were hiding at. This helped put emphasis on the xenomorphs persistence as they try to head towards their area. they did failed to break in due to them getting shot by the sentry guns in the end of those scenes. but it made viewers feel on the edge of their seat seeing the sentry firing away and you see the ripley and the marines watching the quantity of bullets emptying out its ammo quickly on a computer along seeing them in action on a security camera. This made me feel like unlimited ammno mod or hack you see in video games would be a good use in this situation, not wanting to see the ammno number going low in those sentry guns. You see how many body of xenomorphs get taken out by the sentry guns just to break into the barricaded area to go after ripley, newt and the marines.

Cult classics often gain their following way after their initial release. One I can think of right off the top of my head is The Princess Bride.

I would still put myself in the shoes of someone from back then and try and find the appeal. Not just go “ope no dopamine. Bad movie”
