2024-11-10 18:01:49 +0000 UTCI hate the blame Tommy train… his decisions/plans weren’t ‘dumb’. He also told each and every single one of his family members and friends and whoever in the crew MULTIPLE TIMES throughout the show ‘if y’all wanna leave, please go now!’ Multiple times. They are grown ass adults, they have their own free will, own choices, it’s not Tommy’s fault they got themselves into situations or killed off lol. This blind Tommy hate is wild. Michael was being too big for his boots since he came into the family, he wanted to be a gangster. He’s not. He was raised in a nice neighbourhood, with loving parents and hadn’t experienced crime or rough life, whereas Tommy and the rest of the Shelby grew up like slums, in the ghetto. Michael is not about that life, respectfully. Michael never wanted to leave the Shelby family, regardless of the many times Polly and even Tommy sometimes was like bro take this money and go back to your family, or get out of this life before you get in too deep. Have y’all forgotten that? So this whole everything is Tommy’s fault is crazy to me and doesn’t make any sense whatsoever. Tommy’s plan last episode in season 5 would’ve worked if someone didn’t let it slip. Someone obviously betrayed him. Literally 2 seconds left of the plan to work, and it would’ve. But we’ll see later on. There’s no way Tommy would accepted that plan with Michael when that same Michael stupidly lost him all that money, like let’s be for real. The one big thing he asked him to do and he couldn’t do it. Michael wants to be Tommy, wants to have what Tommy has and will and could never. Simple.

2024-11-05 08:07:13 +0000 UTCThe actress who played Polly was battling with Cancer. That’s why they off screened her. Later she passed away before this show came out. RIP

2024-11-01 17:04:28 +0000 UTCLike AP said Things are The worse when they don't listen tommy, the person whos lead them to the Status they are now. They all chose to Live that lifestyle, and Go along with the Things tommy would plan bc it would bc good for them as well and they know it. Unless you move like michael, if youre family, tommy will do anything for you if he thinks its right, and helped them many times by doing that

2024-11-01 11:33:42 +0000 UTCAnd michael adamantly wanted a place in Tommy's world and Company, you don't remember he came and asked tommy for a job Rob? And tommy lied saying its been filled, and he even lied to polly at first, and she also gave in and allowed michael to step into that world, which she was so adamant on keeping him away but saw how michael wanted to be like tommy

2024-11-01 11:28:10 +0000 UTCAnd rob You cant discount the fact that all these people that died were down with the same lifestyle as tommy, John fully was in it, Polly finally came around to embracing the lifestyle that she's been living, Arthur has always been wanting to leave but he too chooses to stay. Yes Tommys ambitions Has gotten them into trouble, but most time they were mad that they just weren't informed, and recently s4-6 tommy has been wanting to leave and get his family out but halla shit bring him and his family back, Like the Changrettas, and ever since Campbell as well Winston church has been eyeing tommy and even told that guy to tell tommy "Mr. ChurchIll will keep in touch". At the end of the day you cant place Everything that happens on tommy fr, but ofc there are many things as well you can. That's Just the lifestyle the Shelbys have been living Since s1 and the domino constantly elevated in multiple crazy directions, and rob you've said it yourself many times during these reactions, this is the life they chose, they better get with it, John did, and Pol did, and grace was killed bc of a lot of johns actions but the biggest being both John and Arthurs fault by keeping Changrettas wife alive and luca even said the same thing. Long story short, Not everything that's happened to the shelbys is Tommy's fault,

2024-11-01 11:21:22 +0000 UTCEvan is not Wrong saying tommy has tried to leave before, but there was also moments where he chose to stay, so youd both be right

2024-11-01 10:10:31 +0000 UTCIt could've been written better, but I felt like it was still consistent with Polly's character. She's often overly-confident and very trusting of her instincts/"ability". I think in her head she knew Tommy would kick Michael to the curb if he withheld that information so she set him up to fail so she could get what she wanted all along which was him out of that life. The turn on Michael was set up and foreshadowed since they first introduced him. The major incidents were him letting Tommy seemingly get set up to die, and losing mad money because he didn't just listen, and honestly that last one alone was enough lol

2024-11-01 06:54:11 +0000 UTCThis nigga rob doing the double hander on Michael dawg, chiiiiill lol I get the feeling Rob literally only lives to argue with people. Probably try to tell me my hands were on the wrong feet just for the hell of it.

2024-11-01 06:51:01 +0000 UTCHe's only a bad leader because he leads like a dictator and expects everyone to listen to him, which is only bad when people don't want to be led that way. Historically. apart from whatever inciting incident is at the beginning/end of each season, the family only really ends up in worse shape when they don't listen to Tommy. None of them wanted Tommy to keep going but every time their income and profile rose they sure were right there to enjoy the spoils of the very war they all told Tommy not to get into and at the end of the day, they stay, every time.

2024-11-01 06:49:41 +0000 UTCThe only thing I don't agree with in regards to Michael's story so far is how the initial disagreement happened. Tommy and Polly pulling that "loyalty" test out of their asses and then Tommy claiming Michael betrayed him because of it, even though the "test" was damn near rigged and Michael would have failed regardless wasn't cool. But I do believe that Michael vs Tommy was always the plan for the final story. I do agree that Tommy is very ambitious and his ambitions is what put his family in these predicaments, but it's just funny how in the previous seasons when his family would HEAVILY disagree with Tommy and say the VERY same things that Rob is saying now, for example Ada in the first 2 seasons, none of y'all not even Rob agreed and was calling the family members annoying, now because it's Michael, Rob now want to be Tommy's #1 hater. The family members have BEEN saying this from the get go, it's why they are all exhausted and pushed to their limits, it's why I understand Lizzie in the first scene, I don't agree with her basically telling Tommy to go ahead and do it, but I understand her anger, she also has been pushed to her limit but she's is still fighting under the assumption that her and Tommy are fighting together, but then he was going to just up and leave her and his children without a word and she would have had to just clean up the mess of their lives alone. It's not okay what she said but after everything I understand the anger.

2024-11-01 01:46:09 +0000 UTCI agree with that 100% this is a 10/10 show for me but they were actually supposed to have another season which is why certain things felt rushed especially with the duke and Finn story line that could have been really good.

2024-11-01 01:36:21 +0000 UTCTommy is a good business man but is a bad leader, thats the main point. there comes a point where trying to gain more money will lead to more death within the family and he never learned. he should've stopped as soon as he got the race tracks or even the export licence but this is the price he paid.

2024-11-01 00:37:42 +0000 UTCNgl I usually like robs takes but common bro first off Tommy told michael to leave he said no múltiple times and michael didnt even make the plan for the family he made the first plan cause of his ego, remember when he was at Tommy’s party talking with his wife saying everything will one day be his. And Tommy was using Ada’s man before she even met him, John also died because he got jealous of lizzy new guy so he cut his eyes. Graces death technically wasn’t even his fault it was John’s he’s the one who started the beef with the Italians. Polly is the only one that was his fault. Tommy is not a good person at all but he is a good businessman he made them all way more money than they ever seen.

2024-10-31 19:12:13 +0000 UTCTommy had nothing to do with Freddy’s death by the way lmao. Also Tommy literally told Micheal to go home and he chose to stay, he was a grown man and made a choice. Pat and wellz was on it low-key.

2024-10-31 19:06:31 +0000 UTCI agree with you but also I put down in another post whether people like it or not Micheal is not like Tommy based of experience and wisdom. I believe Micheal could have been the boss one day if he didn’t lose the money, go behind his back and basically try to take his business. To counter Robs point I don’t think it was about the plan it was the way Micheal did it and how Micheal may have said he was looking out for the family but he was 100% trying to just take the business.
Will
2024-10-31 19:03:58 +0000 UTCI get y’all’s point but at the same time there were multiple moments were Tommy said you don’t want this then go. You can’t act like they don’t have free will not saying it is easy but in the position they were in with the money they still could have left. They all chose to stay including Micheal.
Will
2024-10-31 18:09:22 +0000 UTCYou make great points. I definitely believed that Michael could/would become an antagonist and was excited. Then I saw how he wasn’t the “antagonist” he was just made to be a whiny guy people cheer on Tommy to kill. Like really? After all the seasons of slowly building this character, THIS is the outcome yall were building to? Not a chance. Michael is extremely valid in his feelings and the show punishes him for it so the audience can cheer “Thomas Shelby” Extremely weird how such an amazing show would let itself devolve into such generic and infantile writing tropes
GrayStark
2024-10-31 18:08:09 +0000 UTCTbh I agree in the sense they literally made him a middle man when he could have been a big leader but tbh they did hint that Michael’s arrogance is what led him down this road. I actually really like his character and is actually realistic how some of these guys end up being. Especially when he is basically a simp for his wife lmao that’s what I think really messed him up.

2024-10-31 15:48:33 +0000 UTCDefinitely agree with Rob. Love this show but the way they handled Michael’s storyline is messy as hell (for a few valid reasons) and genuinely just make Polly and Tommy look like raging hypocrite pieces of shit. idk how all the fans were able to turn on Michael immediately too. Seems like the writer banked on everyone’s love for Thomas Shelby and assumed everyone would flip on Michael in a moments notice. And the audience did exactly that.
