Everyone wants to believe that things are going to be better and things WERE actually changing a lot, just not in comparison to the amount of change we've seen in our lifetimes. They were moving from the "Progressive Era" to the "New Era" so it was easier for some people with more progressive mindsets to believe that the world was heading somewhere that it really wasn't quite yet. Hindsight is 20/20 so of course we know now what they didn't, which is that issues concerning race or sexuality wouldn't really start changing until much later. Lastly, sometimes, it's easier for other persecuted races to identify with the struggle of Black people and so they're less racist. The Shelby's are Romani, and started from the bottoms so they're a bit more progressive than other white people at this time.

2024-09-19 21:38:21 +0000 UTCAda's child won't be a problem within the family, but Rob is right that the rest of the world WILL indeed have a problem, it's a touchy and complicated time they are living in right now and also the time that's coming up in the future as well. It's an interesting story and I'm actually shocked and happy this show decided to dive into that kind of topic. Linda may seem annoying to yall but she actually has legit reasons to be frustrated. She wants Arthur to be more than what he is, because she knows that he CAN be more if he tried, but he's tied down by not only Tommy but himself as well, like she can see that he doesn't try and at this point she is fighting a losing battle, but I can't blame her for trying, she just loves him and wants him to reach his full potential. Lizzie also has reasons to be frustrated because Tommy will go on and on about people who don't listen to him, whining and crying about it, but he never gives anybody the full information anyways so why would they? Like seriously?? Like Tommy just wants blind loyalty, and NONE of these people should give him that, I'm sorry but they shouldn't. I love Tommy but he is doing too much.
