Plus is everyone forgetting Gildarts' speech to Natsu on Tenrou "magic power isn't the be all end all" Ajeel- got sniped by Bisca giving Erza the opening Brandish- got knocked by Cana out due to the pollen in the air (doesn't really count) Wahl- Laxus surpassed his limits and mixed blood with his lightning (he was already strong enough power wise stated by August when he protected Ajeel) Dimaria- Shelia having her max power/potential drawn out (God Slayer vs a God) and having assistance from Wendy with defense Neinhart- clearly not a front line fighter (Jellal being OP as usual) but he did have the power to maintain the Historias to brings people back from the memory of those he faces to the strength the victims thought they were. God Serena- no diff by Acnologia strongest being introduced and him being cocky Bloodman- defeated by Gajeel adapting to his physiology through the carbon in the bane particles unlocking DF (not anything we haven't seen before). Plus Gajeel stated that he's power didn't feel as high compared to other Spriggan members Jacob- understandable if you don't like his personality. But Lucy used her brain and Natsu has the power to challenge Spriggans easily. Spoiler territory Invel- caught off guard thinking he turned into his demonic self and was too injured to fight. Gray then adapted and recreated his true cold/ice spells. Not anything new with Gray adapting to situation with the magic that gave him freedom by his Master August- self destructed but pushed to the brink by Gildarts and Cana analyses and abilities. Irene- self destructed to not harm her daughter further (was already mentally broken and lied to herself for years) she even wondered herself if Erza was even human. Erza was cooking within a dragon's womb for hundreds of years and Irene casted a spell/enchantment to protect her from harm, Erza's an anomaly. Larcade- jumped by Sting Kagura and Rouge combining their powers and recreated Future Rouge's power through Sting (White Shadow dragon Silk). But was ultimately killed by Zeref for interfering with his battle vs Natsu. It was not clear if he was human from the beginning like Natsu and turned demon hence no Etherious form. I'm not seeing anything wrong with how they are defeated. You can complain that the fights aren't long enough but like I said in a previous comment, Mashima has no interest in long fights but their emotional impact which you can't drag out

Now he was definitely stated to be the strongest that’s why people feared when he left. Even when gildarts fights him he stated he don’t know how the fight would’ve went if he was alive. So if the gildarts states this who is probably strongest wizard in fairy tail how are the weaker members taking out most spriggan 12 fairly easily

But what most don't consider is that the 10 wizard saints are an outdated system that didn't completely reflect strength as stated by Warren before the Sun Village arc. So scaling to that measure is meaningless. Especially when the world itself is getting stronger(amount of ethernano) and the younger wizards are training to surpass each other and sometimes beyond their seniors (Gildarts, Makarov, ect) I don't get why everyone is saying that the Spriggans are even with Makarov when we have multiple statements saying that they are stronger than him. But people don't pay attention or retain information. We can easily boil it down to this season not having the budget or manpower to keep up with any sort of good animation or extend the fights in anyway.

They hyped the whole spriggan 12 to be on par if not stronger then ishgar #1 wizard. And now they all getting dropped fairly easy.

2024-08-10 01:07:03 +0000 UTCI get not wanting them to be beaten so soon but Mashima always hated dragged out fights that last 15-20 chapters. And goes for the more emotional route. Hence why he builds up the characters instead. It's something different which I can appreciate especially when characters in other series feel more two dimensional or too attached to their troupe. Tho I get wanting the fight to breath. That's why there's so much jumping around in this final season. The fights are explained and everyone is stronger. They had a couple of months of hard cour training caused them to catch up for the seven year gap. Now they had a year at least the ones that felt the need to like Laxus Erza Natsu Gray and Lucy ect. It ain't even all about power most of the time. Just like the fight with Jacob how Lucy figured out how to use Gemini. Use smarts or hacks not to mention their teamwork.
