Aemond wants revenge and has the biggest dragon. Otto was running the council with a bunch of war hungry men. And 2: Alicent did NOT start this war. It’s clearly stated that the men at the council led by Otto were going to challenge Rhaenyra as soon as Viserys died, no matter what. No one on Team Green is supporting Aegon because they actually believe Alicent’s misunderstanding, besides Alicent herself and Aegon Whis just desperate to believe his dad loved him.

Like I hate being negative about shows but I honestly can count on one hand the only good things that happened in this season and I wouldn't even need all five fingers. Every character Arc I feel was done very poorly, They either couldn't be consistent with the character and written them out of character (Alicent), they took too long to get to the damn point (Daemon) or they didn't progress at all (Rhaenrya). Almost every character is exactly where they were at, at the end of S1, except for Alicent but where they ended with her character is so stupid it's laughable. Also the fact that they randomly showed us Otto stuck in a cage somewhere and didn't bother to show us how exactly he got there but we got multiple Alicent/Cole sex scenes, a scene of Daemon hallucintating fucking his own mother, countless scenes of Rhaenrya repeating herself about not wanting war, also building up this whole season of Rhaena claiming this wild dragon and not even allowing us to see it, but we get 3 random scenes of Tyland in the Stepstones (in the finale mind you). It's no wonder George withdrew himself from this show, Ryan clearly doesn't know what he is doing. Okay rant over lol, but like I said I hate being negative about shows and I genuinely believe the entire cast and crew of this show is amazing, I just need the writing to get better.

Didn't even see Vhagar burn the city in this finale and then nothing else happened. I've watched hours of these people talk. If there's a war going on could we see it at least.

George RR martin confirmed that the books are written from perspectives of 2 heavily biased people which makes the things told in the book unreliable. The 2 POVs were also anti rhaenyra, the one who fails gets written off as the villain in history obviously. George himself said the TV show is meant to show what actually happened.

It's always a misunderstanding none of the women behave like the time period they're supposed to be in. Otto Hightower was proven right in the end Rhaenyra does want her children dead and Alicent hightower sold out her whole family including her brother. They spent 5 minutes of screen time explaining how special a person her youngest son was he's only 16 years old and she just gave him up for her freedom. The writing is clearly biased towards Rhaenyra which makes the show less interesting.
