I see it Asa daddy complex kind of thing. Her feelings aren't exactly romantic, but they're complicated and tender. Kafka is a good guy who makes her feel safe. He's something between the father she wished she had and the husband she hopes to have someday, but mostly just a friend who is special to her. Something like that

Yeah she's 16. I'm anime only too and I think Shinomiya blushing at Kafka is why people think it might lead to something romantic but yeah like you said it's more like a father/daughter relationship to me

I think they only mention that she graduated at 16. So as long as that is still present day then yes, she is 16.

it's funny. I tend to see manga readers see Shinomiya and Kafka's relationship as more of a sibling/subsitute father type, whiile anime readers automatically think of romance. I tend to look at it like manga readers do... And question: isn't she 16-18 while he's 32?
