Theres gonna be a lot of feel good moments. (which is why you watch these type of shows in sub). Stop expecting complex story and enhanced fighting scenes. Its a feel good show. People arent gonna die much...ESPECIALLY main characters. This aint AOT or JJK OR HxH. Its more like Naruto, DBZ, and One Piece. Its supposed to be fun...enjoy it. Lighten your hearts and dont take it so seriously. Its a classic. Oh and as far as catchphrases Natsu: Im all fired up. Luffy; I'm gonna be King of the Pirates.

He’s literally the one who defeats the main villains yes, but the main plot of fairy tail revolves literally around him, Lucy is just the narrator who follows the adventures of fairy tail. Lucy is kind of supposed to represent us as viewers as we discover this magical world of fairy tail while Natsu is the one who progresses the plot since he literally is the plot. Also Hiro Mashima has already confirmed plenty of times that Natsu is the main character in official works and author notes.

He's nearly a side character until some end battles. And his end goal is not the story goal. For example, One piece is based on Luffy finding the One Piece to become the king of the Pirates other characters have stories, but they join him to aid his goal of finding the One Piece. all the arcs are obstacles he just run into while looking for the One Piece. Fairytail is not base on finding Dragons. that's a thing but that's just Natsu goal it's not pushing the plot. Then the narration itself though Lucy, We enter the guild and discover the world as she does. If she doesn't know it ..... we don't know it. Another important thing is different arcs have different characters pushing the arcs. Galuna island........ Grey is basically the Main character, Tower of Heaven.......... Erza is the main character. They are by far the most important characters in those arcs. While he does "I'm not going to spoil anything" of the 4 most focus Characters Eza, Grey, Lucky, Natsu, thus far nearly 100 eps in he's the only one with no character development. That's abnormal for the "main character." This is why a lot of fans say the guild itself is the real main character because the story is organized more of collective like X-men then most shonen like One Piece, DBZ, Naruto, My Hero etc.

Yes, to an extent, FT is about Lucy’s adventures in the guild, but Natsu is the MC in the story she’s narrating for us. Picture Lucy as the cameraman. She can neither die nor be left behind, otherwise, we're never going to know what happens in the story. That's why she'll conveniently win in difficult fights despite being weak.

I used to like her back when I watched the show for the first time though. Then I realized the fan service thing as well which really does end up hurting her character. Doesn’t help that Mashima confirmed he viewed her as “that type of character” in an interview.

Also, no way were Lucy and Cana legitimately beating Freed and Bickslow as they are right now for all the reasons the narrator stated. Letting them win was the only way for story to progress since you can’t take Lucy out of it or Cana for this arc in particular.

Even though Freed lost to Mira he showed enough of his power to let you know he's up there in power aside from the S class wizards and Bixlow's power is pretty decent too. Lucy and Cana weren't going to beat them on their own merit no matter what they did.
