The only thing in s2 touching those two fights was when Toji was on screen(gojo past arc only). Nothing in shibuya comes close to those two in terms of choreography, fluidity, and overall animation. I love JJK just as much as the next person but I’m not gone be biased and act like the light dimming during fight scenes and the lip sync issues aren’t there. Constant slow -mo for no reason slowing the pace of the fight. I could go on. Mahito vs Mechamaru was good though I’ll give you that. Like I said though it’s my own opinion

Gojo fight in the subway while it had a few highlights don’t forget how the civilians were animated. The amount of slide shows screenshots we got that episode as well. This isn’t just nitpicking. There’s clearly a decline in terms of quality and I clearly state above its most likely due to work overload.

2023-10-13 00:23:54 +0000 UTCI’m gonna go ahead and say it. I feel like a lot of people are nitpicking when it comes to the ‘downgrade in animation’ during this arc. Outside of some minor instances (a couple of which you mentioned), the animation has been really great (Gojo’s fight in the subway for example). Not sure if people are looking for errors and intentionally trying to sabotage their own enjoyment of the arc but me and everyone I know who has been watching hasn’t had any complaints. I’m not trying to discredit your experience but it just seems like most of the people criticizing these elements are looking at it under a lense of ‘perfection’ or lack there of. It’s so much easier to sit back and enjoy the ride. I’ve seen WAY worse animation then what we’ve been given.

Go look at how fluid JJK 0 is, and season 1 and the beginning of Season two and you’ll see how that animation is way more lively and responsive and just better overall. Gojo past arc had the perfect balance. Hell even the intro “Special” has more of a fluid animation than what we are currently seeing

2023-10-12 23:10:50 +0000 UTCIma just gone ahead and say it. Season 1 and beginning of season 2(Gojo past arc) the animation is way more fluid and responsive. The shibuya arc feels lifeless to me, even though the color palette is great the animation itself seems very lackluster imo. You can even tell in some episodes where the voice acting and lip syncing is off. Characters screaming but their mouth is shut not even a grunt a full out scream. Shout out mappa for doing their thing and I know their work load is horrendous but this not excusable to me. If the animation quality is going to decrease on major arcs (shibuya being one of JJK biggest arcs) especially on a major series like JJK they should either take more time to animate the series and keep it at least on the same par as when the series first started or cut some of those other series if it causes them to have too much work load. If mappa can’t animate all these anime to the quality they put out previously then maybe they should just drop a few and let another studio pick it up. I’ve been highly disappointed with the shibuya arc. Just my personal thoughts though, hope it either improves or becomes more consistent.

Next week should be one of the higher priority episodes and then it should stay consistently amazing from there. Also, I love the way they depict Toji’s speed in this episode.
