Rob’s breakdown of people expectations of the live action versus Oda’s vision was perfect to me, completely agree with his reasoning. There would be no point of having different mediums of the same story if they were going to be 1:1 adaptions. Oda is catering to different audiences and turning One Piece into a franchise.

Y'all were too worried comparing Garp to the anime/manga version, u didn't see what he had been doing the whole series. "Garp had two goals with how he was chasing after Luffy. The first was to obviously do as he said and make sure that Luffy was truly sure of himself and ready for the challenges the Grand Line would be. The second, he is keeping the Marines from interfering with Luffy and his crew by basically laying claim to the chase of the Strawhats and forcing all of the other Marines to back off. He's still the same Grap, he just went about it another way.

They had a really tough job, to adapt something that would make original fans happy, but also capture an all new audience while knowing that they couldn't take as much time with certain things as they may have wished. This was dope asl. I watched the anime up until around episode 150 when it first hit the streets in the US, but I fell off on it and it didn't seem worth it to try to catch up. Also, I hated Chopper lol. I forgot a lot since then but I still remembered more than I thought I would. I like the changes that were made and I think it makes me more interested to see how they're going to continue with certain things. I might even try to pick the anime back up after seeing this, but we'll see. Also, very well said Rob

I speak from my own experience because there used to be certain series/anime that I just didn't like at first, but people change and your opinions change and how you see certain things change over time too, so maybe you didn't like it then but you might like it now. You could still try it, and if you still don't like it, you can just wait for season 2 and enjoy that.😂

Surpassed my expectations. The film and set crew did a great job. They actually built some of the ships which was dope to see. The acting was superb overall. Like most people, the new Garp and Koby angle was my least favorite part, but it wasn’t the worst thing in the world. I can live with it.

Naruto’s anime didn’t take 207 episodes to get good. It wasn’t just the animation that threw me off but the pacing as well. I doubt I can force myself to watch 207 23 minute episodes just to get a handful of good moments and decent fights.
