The ending is always so bittersweet and nostalgic, I totally feel you on that one. I was bawling the first time I watched it and even now it's making me teary eyed whenever they all leave the neighbourhood.

In the game to win Doek-sun's heart Junghwan (representing black) gets to go first and establishes his position as love interest while Taek (representing white) goes second. Now in Taek's career he was almost always victorious which was the biggest clue that he would win in the end. Junghwan's confession is similar to the post game interviews where for etiquette the person who lost confidently describes each move while the victor defers. Episode 18 was that for Junghwan and then we see the true winner Taek emerge in the penultimate episode. Just thought I'd share that.

Instead, he was expressing that he genuinely loved her during high school, even though they broke up. Despite their separation, he continued to long for her, and even six years later, his feelings hadn’t changed. I believe that Sunwoo saying he had been with Bora for six years was not a lie to convince his mom. I think those six years include all the time he spent longing for her, as well as resenting her. Jungbong is shown in the drama to have become a famous chef in Korea. The person who inspired Jungbong’s successful chef career is none other than Baek Jong-won. Baek Jong-won is an incredibly famous culinary researcher in Korea. The fact that they mention moving to “Pangyo” is actually quite significant. Back when Deoksun’s family moved there, it was just a rural area with fields and farmland. But now, Pangyo has become as expensive as Gangnam, with high land prices and costly apartments. It’s also famous for being a hub for startups and is home to many wealthy residents today. If Deoksun’s family is still living there in 2024, they must have gained a massive profit from the rising property values. Even though the drama has ended, I’d like to believe that Deoksun and the other characters are still out there living their lives. The older Deoksun mentioned Kim Chang-wan’s song Youth while talking with Taek, and from that moment until the end of the drama, the background music playing was Kim Chang-wan’s Youth.
