I LOVE this show. And I love the parallels they portray in the story. The biggest being the 2 main couples. In both instances, they were each other's comforts in a time that they needed someone the most. But the contrast all comes down to Yijin not being able to share his misery with Heedo but Yurim sharing hers with Jiwoong. (Jiwoong/Yurim survived 3+ years apart while Yijin/Heedo could only do the 1ish year 😢) Honestly, after all my rewatches, the fact that Yijin was warned multiple times about the incompatibility of his job and Heedo's job is such a big point. It was the oncoming storm to avoid at all cost. For Yijin, the storm his job brought happened to Yurim rather than Heedo and was just another warning. Because if they couldn't survive the storm they were warned about, there was no way they could survive the disaster (newsroom and what it entails) that would follow. But this is a tv show, dammit, and they COULD'VE made it a happy ending! Still, I'll sign off with a Ms. Ko Yurim quote to sum up 2521: "It'll probably hurt if you lose it all, but what matters is that you had it in the first place."

This is my 3rd time watching this series because to this day it’s my favorite KDRAMA. I’m glad I have rewatched with you because you are fun and sincere reactors. I want to say a lot of things here because I did not have a chance to talk about this series with people while it had been airing so sorry in advance😂 also, I am not native English speaker so my way of writing could be off🙂 For me this show is about 3 things: First of all, it is about pure love. Na Hee-Do and Baek Yi-Jin did not end up together due to different circumstances. Ironically, if huge event like IMF connected them, then 9/11 made them separate from each other. Time, opportunities, family, stable life, a lot of things were taken away from them but this pure love will be forever with them. They shouldn’t be together to love each other and 5th ep showed it to us beforehand. Maybe love is not only about being married to each other until the death but about helping each other to become better, believe in each other, support each other no matter what. This kind of love is something I would like to experience and this is love I want to defend with all my life. Secondly, this show is about youth. I have always wondered why we can’t see older Na Hee-do’s interactions with friends in present day. Why can’t Baek Yi Jin have one get together with his friends so they can talk about what happened during those 7 years. However, last scene made me realize what creators of show tried to say. Youth does not last forever. Friends that you thought would be together with you forever are not close to you anymore. Your first love is not married to you. All your first experience are past. And that’s how real life is. As we know, there was no conflict between any of them which made them separate from each other. It just happens naturally. People start to live their own lives and go their own path. I have noticed that I am not close with most of my high school friends anymore. And my youth is not gone yet but I know that part of it has already past so we have nothing else than just cherish every moment, learn because we still have a lot to know about in life and don’t be afraid to try and do something we want to do. Last, 2521 is “the show of generation”. One of the main reasons why this show came popular is nostalgia. The generation which lived through those difficult period of South Korea and Asia, could reminisce their younger days while watching this show. Grandma of Kim Min-Chae said in 1st episode that we are living in times when kids don’t dream anymore. But that generation lived with different mindset and Na Hee-Do illustrated those times in herself. People had dreams, more difficulties and uncertainties. So it was very fascinating to look at people of that generation. And Kim Min-Chae illustrates new generation which will definitely be better than us. You know why? Because they can learn from our mistakes, be stronger, have more possibilities to laugh and cry, experience different things. I know that I have written too much and if you still read this, I’m sorry and thank you because I wanted to express my emotions about this incredible show. I want to add the most important reason why I love this show. It is everything that considers production. Directing style is unique and refreshing. Editing is creative and smooth. Games are fascinating to watch. Even when we know the result of that Madrid game, directors still keep suspense through other things like conflict between two fencers. Storytelling is well put together and interesting to keep up with no matter what pacing is. Humor and dialogues are well written, not cringey and sometimes so philosophical. Acting is on the most top level. Kim Tae-Ri portrays young girl who turn to grown adult in such shockingly good way. Great actress who again proved herself as one of the most consistent actors in industry. Nam Joo-Hyuk had so many emotional scenes and every scene was delivered in such heartbreaking way. Iconic OST. “Twenty-five, twenty-one” by Jaurim is new national anthem of gone youth. “Your existence” sonically, vocally is incredible. “Very, slowly” is smooth and beautiful while “cast” song is not popular but associates with the show so huge. Iconic scenes. Fountain scene, stranger comforting Na Hee-Do, shoelace scene, final dialogue through diary, hug between Na Hee-Do and Ko You-Rim. Honestly, which show had so many iconic scenes which can be so grand and emotional even out of context? You can say anything about final decision makings and ending but this show is legendary and will be in history of kdramas higher than shows which were inspired by 2521. This show is something I will always cherish and I hope all people do. Thank you for reading this no matter where you stopped!😂

This is one of my favorite dramas of all time! I’m glad you guys enjoyed it, as much as I did. This show really helps you to appreciate real life, that sometimes things don’t always go as planned, but that at the end of the day it works out for the best. Good things can come out of heartbreak and disappointment—sometimes. 🥹 PS: I cried too!
