sorry for the late comment! but yeah the "안기부" or the ansp aka the detectives in the show, were real people, and not only real but a TERRIBLE organization of people, who made out innocent college students who were just protesting for basic rights, like democracy, etc, and framed them to be "north korean spies" so they could push the narrative that nk spies were infiltrating sk, which obviously wasn't true. many students lost their lives because of this due to the ansp's ruthless torture methods, etc. that's why in the show you see that so many people are scared of them, and that's also why they put so much on the line when protecting suho because they thought he was just another innocent protestor, (which most were) and they didn't want him to be subjected to the ansp's torture methods, or even loose his life, which most people at the time did! the kdrama "youth of may" does an AMAZING job of portraying the more realistic side of what was really going on during those times in my opinion, you guys should definitely watch it next! also, im not saying this drama is super unrealistic, im just saying history wise, alottt of stuff is kinda watered down, im still watch it though because of jisooo, sorry for the long comment lmao :)
