This is a question I get thrown often, be it the Patrons, Instagram users, or even people approaching Nudity in general in an offensive way, even I throw these question to myself often.
Why Nudes and not nature or wildlife? Is my work porn? Does it hold an intrinsic value? Why monetise nudes?
First things first I don't earn money by selling nudes or pictures, I mean thats what I'd say, because whatever I earn from this platform is solely a support to me as a photographer, which also means, I can upload a single picture in an entire month or 100 but my subscription amount stays the same. Also, it's a platform where I can share my images without any form of censorship, hence you people are paying for the access to my page and supporting me, while in return I am giving you an exclusive access to my work as a token of gratitude. Hence I don't believe in pay per view, rather supporting/donation.
I click nudes, out of interest to see, admire and appreciate different bodies hence clicking someone naked takes me in a zone where I can create a safe place for the other person who stands there vulnerable and together appreciating images in a way where they feel beautiful and confident.
Shooting women only is a thing I'd keep doing because being a man I feel I can see them in a way where the audience can also connect, whereas I strongly feel there is a different gaze that works while shooting a male, which I am yet to master, hence women.
If you are in any sort of creation or art form, be it dance, music, painting, photography, you must have an understanding your own work, it might be there in 6 months, 2 years or even 10 years, evolution is what keeps you going. Hence I feel, with whatever knowledge I have, my images are yet to have an intrinsic value, rather they are mostly blunt and unidirectional, yet to find a visual aesthetic.
In short, I'll keep clicking pictures, because this is what I do for full time and Patreon will be a way to put my work out for appreciation/criticism and obviously self improvement.
With Love
