Build 0.13: Now Public!

Updated Aug. 17, 2023:  Links are to an updated version that (a) has improved images during a dream sequence (less pixelation in the shadows); (b) fixes a transition from the cabin to Mayhew's tower that was being skipped, resulting in some players finding themselves suddenly in a parking garage without any warning; and (c) corrects some typos in various chapters.

Well, it has been a minute, hasn't it? But the wait is over and the next update and conclusion to Chapter 14 is now available.

Chapter 14 is the start of Act 2 and the previous two updates took us through a Connor romance path and a Nick romance path. This update takes you along a path where you are not pursuing a romance with either Connor or Nick, or, perhaps, made certain choices to alienate one or both of them. Even if you are pursuing one of those paths in your main playthrough, if you're a fan of explicit shifted content, you will probably want to check out this path. (Trigger Warning:  The explicit scene at the beginning of that path includes shifted content as well as blood and some BDSM elements.)

Regardless of the romance path you're taking, this update continues the story for all paths, bringing Alex back to Mayhew's tower as he begins his research into the origin of the plague creatures and how to address the problem.

As you all know, putting this build together has taken some time. More time than usual. Along the way, I encountered hardware problems leaving me without a graphics card for almost a month (which I need to create the images), more demands on my time due to a new job, and even some burn out. Adding insult to injury, to resolve the hardware issues, I also considered whether it might be something with the operating system and did a fresh install of windows and a new harddrive... which wound up deleting a lot of settings I use for post-work in Photoshop, creating the Android builds, re-downloading hundreds of 3d assets and other challenges I've tried to forget. It was just a giant mess all around.

So, I can't tell you all how much I appreciate your support and patience. It means the world to me. When I started BBN, I didn't think anyone was going to care for this silly little fantasy project of mine. The first build was almost more of a "Can I Do This?"-experiment than anything else. Now... here we are.

The next update will continue Alex's journey, reintroduce him to Riley and (I hope) Santino, and set the stage for some world travels. Future updates should not take this long, and (for good or ill) I'm going to avoid more of these branching paths for romances as I think it artificially created a bit of a storytelling hurdle for me to get past. Lessons learned.
