BBN now uses Subscription-based Billing

This announcement took me by surprise but today I learned Patreon has just rolled out a subscription-based billing model. This is something patrons (and creators) have been asking for for a long time. What exactly is it, and what does it mean for you?

Until now, BBN used Patreon's first-of-the-month billing model. This meant that no matter when you become a patron, you would be billed again on the 1st of the next month. This was the only billing model that really worked for something like BBN, in which the major benefit is early access to new builds. But sometimes people would join at the end of the month and be surprised when they were billed again just a few days later. Frustrating!

Today, Patreon rolled out a system where new patrons are billed monthly on the date they joined (e.g., join on September 26, your next bill date is October 26). For existing patrons, you'll still continue to be charged on the 1st of the month but, if you cancel and then come back at a later date, you'll be rolled over to the new model.

I think this is great news and, as soon as I saw it, I switched BBN over to the new method.

Meanwhile, expect an end of month update on BBN in a few days as well as what to expect in October.
