BtS: Rendering is underway (NSFW)

First, a quick progress update. Writing is not 100% complete (I'm estimating it's around 90%, but I hit a writer's block on how to set the stage for the final scene) but last weekend I shifted gears to get started on some rendering.

Now, for the Behind the Scenes update, it has been a somewhat brutal process. Months ago, working with his sponsoring patron, I worked up this amazing model for Paolo (link, link and link).

Skip ahead to this week and I've been working on his big in-game reveal and it's been a series of headaches. I've had one issue after another. First I found a gray line around his lips. Fixed that, but then, depending on how the lighting was hitting him, his skin alternatively looked like a pumpkin or he'd been bleached. I started over from scratch, tried applying some new tips and suggestions I'd found, but they clashed horribly with the textures for his genitals (see the screenshots below).

Then I tried starting over from scratch again and this time trying out a new utility that was supposed to apply a tan skin effect. That looked FANTASTIC when it was just the model on his own, but then when I tried importing the model into a scene, he got horrid seams between a tanned torso and pale-as-a-vampire thighs.

Fortunately, I think I've finally found a solution. It's going to mean re-rendering all the scenes I've done so far to get a consistent look, but I think I'm finally back to full-speed ahead on the renders. I'll drop some sneak peek images once these are all done and, I hope, actually look decent.
