Feedback on new image effects
Added 2022-04-07 14:00:07 +0000 UTC
Now that Build 0.8 has been out for a little while, I wanted to get some feedback from folks.
As I've mentioned, the images for this update (in Chapter 12) went through a new post-processing step in Photoshop. I did a few things to bring out the colors, bring out the highlights while darkening the shadows, and give everything a little more texture/detail.
Here are some of the "before and after" samples. As background, the "before" image is what would have been put into the game had I used the same process for the prior releases.

If this is popular, not only will I continue using it but I'll also see about converting the original images from the previous chapters.

I think It looks little better but yeah, it really depends on how much extra effort it is for you, that said if the news one give you a greater sense of pride then it could be worth it. I know that's probably not that helpful lol but, honestly I think it should be more about how does it make you feel.

2022-04-12 09:34:13 +0000 UTCThanks for the feedback! ❤️ That's interesting. I'm having trouble seeing the nips but I'm currently on my mobile device and it won't zoom on the images. I'll take a closer look when I'm back at my rig. That could be a pop-through issue I failed to catch, or the process I used to increase the textures emphasized something with the model that morphed the clothing. The overall effect should be fairly subtle; I don't want a completely jarring change in art direction. But something that brings out the colors a little more while making a bigger contrast between light and dark areas.

2022-04-09 17:29:32 +0000 UTCI honestly don't notice a significant difference. If the time/resource commitment is significant, I would say it isn't worth it to me. But, as always, I defer to the artist and creator. It's your project. By the way, I thought it was weird how visible Santino's nipple was in the first pic. It was like his shirt and sport coat were translucent.

2022-04-09 03:48:11 +0000 UTCInteresting. I am darkening the shadows a little, but on a dim screen I can see how that would be a problem. Maybe I should include one of those brightness calibration screens at the beginning.

2022-04-08 15:58:39 +0000 UTCIt took me some time to learn the tools and then play around with the settings for something I liked, but once I have a group of settings dialed in, I'm able to run them over all the images at once. Basically, I just tell Photoshop "look in this folder and run this script on all the images there," and it does it. Along with backing up the images before processing and moving things around in various folders, only adds maybe 10 minutes at the end of everything. So definitely worth it.

2022-04-08 13:22:58 +0000 UTCThe new post-processing looks stunning. I wasn't sure about it at first, because it looked like the darkest sections completely lost all detail, but then I realized my stupid AMOLED display was set too dim 💀
2022-04-08 04:10:52 +0000 UTCDefinitely like the new post-processing! It gives the images a noticeably more life-like quality with the warmer colors.
