Development Update (October 2021)

The end of the month is approaching and, as always, that means I want to give you an update on where things are with the project and what the near future holds. Let's deal with first things first, and tackle work on the next update to BBN.

I'm more than 50% finished writing the first draft of the next update, including the coding for menus and remembering decisions. This is proving to be a difficult update to write, both creatively and technically. I have to avoid having too many branching paths that can result in an incoherent story and bog down development, but there have also been a series of decisions prior to this point that are really coming to a head. Not only do I have to resolve those technically, I want to handle these in a way that are faithful to the characters. It's been a challenge and has involved more than a few moments of waking up at 4am, thinking of these guys, and having an "ah ha"-moment to resolve an issue.

Meanwhile, I'm about 60% complete on the second of two parts of a side project (put another way, the first part is completely done, and I'm more than halfway done on the second). This has also required a lot of my time and attention, with renders running daily while I continue to refine the story/script. But, once it comes out, I think you guys are going to love it. Details are still "top secret" but I'll share more with you when I can.

So, that's where we're at. I'm hopeful I can have the next update for BBN to you in November; it's hard to write but the renders shouldn't be too technically complicated.
