BtS: Development Schedule and Roadmap

Hi everyone! I wasn't planning on another post but did want to share some updates on BBN's development path and schedule for new content.

Development Schedule

When BBN started in February, I was releasing a series of very small updates with short chapters. Then came Build 0.4 which took about two months to put together but contained two much larger chapters and the total update roughly doubled the size of the game compared to Build 0.3.

When I compared the chapters through Build 0.3 against Chapters 7 and 8, I came to the conclusion that the longer chapters generally helped me tell a better story with deeper conversations between the characters. I think you saw that again in what Chapter 9 offered. But what that means is the updates do take me a little longer to put together than when I first started work on this title.

The advice I keep getting is to not rush myself and release the updates when they're ready. While it will remain my goal to continue to provide monthly content updates -- and Chapter 10 is coming in July -- I updated the front page here to no longer promise monthly updates of new content. And, having made that change, I also wanted to let you know here.

Roadmap for Future Content

We are currently still in what I consider to be Act 1 of BBN, in which the main characters and the setting are being introduced, as well as the central conflict of the story:  how Alex responds to be being exposed to this new world. When we get to Act 2, expect some world travel and new environments as he tries to learn more about what he's been exposed to. Act 3 will bring things back to the city and a resolution, including at least four paths that will be unlocked based on the strength of your relationships with the various characters. I don't have a timeline for any of this -- while there is a destination and some guideposts along the way, the precise path on how we get there is going to evolve organically.

Development of a visual novel is a new endeavor for me so I'm learning as I go. I hugely appreciate your support on this journey and that's why I try to be as transparent with you as possible with regular updates.
