Progress Report

It's been awhile since my update...
I had some things come up/personal reasons but I'm now back to it.

Firstly, I'm close to finishing off the tutorial/the start of the Mech's relationship gaining (No scenes as yet, just the ability to give gifts to her for some points.)

Along with this, I have been playing with a Zoom plugin. (First picture is before, and the other is zoom)
Now, what I'm trying to achieve or at least try to, is;
-Making the world seem bigger when you are small
-Harder to explore while small (Missing hidden areas/Walking Girls are more of a threat.)

This is zoomx3, so there is a less zoomed in version but this is the one I'm testing at the moment. Along with the Zoom there will be a slight move speed decrease (Only by a point) and you wont be able to run.

Now with that said, this will only be zoomed on the overworld. So going into caves/Homes etc will be normal and wont be zoomed while being big. As for the areas such as Wildglade, there will be no zoom.

I would like to know your opinion on this. (Hopefully I have explained it right to what's in my head) Since this is being tested it can easily be removed.

Next months auto-bill for current patreons will be paused again.

Thank you

Good luck and good work with the game I can't wait

Personal suggestion would be to have the zoom/challenge of exploration while being smaller to be a toggleable thing, with the default setting being what you intend it to be. I firmly believe that more options for the players would be the best way to go about it than simply restricting them to one single thing, which could potentially spoil the experience from as what Specter has said, aimlessly wandering around in search of something to do.

Thanks. I will see what I can do. 3x Does work well with small scenes but I can see inside buildings it could be a bit much. Further testing will be done to get it right.

Hellion Prime

Thanks. I hope to make it work well.

Hellion Prime

Thanks. I do plan at some point having a vehicle to move around faster, but like all games it would be later in the game than the start.

Hellion Prime

It would be a whole other ballgame to make a map look bigger.

Hellion Prime

Yeah, I short break and a few changes in life had to be made. Yeah, I do realise that it could make things harder to navigate around. While I may know the map well, others do not. I will try my best to make the flow fit the Zoom. Last thing I want is to make it too tedious like you said.

Hellion Prime

Thanks. It's still in testing but so far is working well enough.

I hope everything went alright for your...break? hiatus?... personal reasons? Anyway I hope everything worked out for that! The zoom in sounds awesome for size thematics! It makes sense that the world would look bigger when you are smaller! I do just wanna say, the idea of making it more difficult to explore the overworld when small does worry me a little though. I can understand the reasoning for wanting to make it harder to find secrets and add a bit more danger with the "big girls" walking around :) However; there are some moments currently where it's not very clear where you need to go for progression which lead to A LOT of running around the overworld while small trying to find where to go. So, the idea of having to do that again while seeing less of the map at once and at a slower speed sounds a bit painful :( I'm not trying to say not to do the zoom in, but it might just need some more additions to help out with main story directions(hiding secrets with it is fine) like maybe more signs along the starts of roads telling you where you are and a little more clear directions in the quest log? (The main culprit that always comes to mind is when you need to steal the Hyperion. But I don't think it's the only one... it's been awhile since I did a playthrough though...) Maybe I don't actually know what I'm talking about... but I'm just worried it will make certain segments of the main story more tedious and a potential turn off for players.

I'm glad you are fine! Imo, I think the zoom is great, it adds quite a nice touch to the game in general

Glad to hear from you. I think the zoom is a good idea though 3x may be a bit much. As for the speed reduction I would say the reduced speed is good but I would say keep the ability to sprint (at an equally reduced speed), mainly because it may make it a bit too tedious in certain sections.

Brett Ripley

I like the zoom since, as you said, it makes the world seem bigger both by restricting your view and making individual objects bigger.

RaalBraun

mmh, I guess thats a bit too much to ask, but maybe rather than doing a simple zoom, it would be better to have a normal size map and a tiny size map ?

aurexo

Welcome back! For the move spead, high speed would be great for exploring big areas. Another idea is that you can add a tiny vehicle to move around big areas, and when mc get off the vehicle he move slower. Can't wait to play this masterpiece again :)

y a

Correct.

Hellion Prime

glad you are fine :D so if I understood well, when normal size, it's normal map view x1, but when tiny it's normal map view zoomed x3 ?
