He knew the seller (Wu Suowei's former snake teacher) would do that to his students every time they ended a course at his school, so they could continue to buy snakes from him at a high price or take other courses about snakes from the snake school. The gallbladders that were removed from the snakes were probably removed because the snakes were too sick to be sold, and the seller wants to hide that the snakes should not be brought because they will die quickly. Wu Suowei knew that about the seller, so he brought the snakes and told Chi Cheng, who knows the snake market, by showing his batch of dying hatchlings, so Chi Cheng could get revenge for him. To Chi Cheng, Wu Suowei looks like a clueless first-time buyer who thinks they know the snake market but got taken advantage of by someone they trusted instead. Chi Cheng's price bump is to give the seller a taste of his own medicine, especially because he can't sue Chi Cheng, or he will be exposed for unethical selling practices and might go to jail which will affect the credibility and morale of his school, and will cause his business to shut down.
