Behind the scenes: my thought process

One of my favorite parts of creating an audio is crafting ATMOSPHERE. If you're a long time listener, you know what I'm talking about...

What are the fragrances in the air? What time of day is it and thus what do the shadows in the room look like? What would I be wearing? All of these details come together to create a feeling that is hard to replicate other than in a dream or a movie. And thus, the audio feels like you're actually there (well, I suppose more so then if the details were to be omitted).

I get inspiration from listening to - and please do not laugh - whimsical orchestral music that inspires something like a dream feeling while I people watch or ride the train. I build stories in my head for couples or a single person that I see on my commutes and get inspired for these audios!

Personally, I want to experience unrealistic, surreal, fantasy things. (Watching the sunrise  on a mountain to my favorite music with my favorite people or sharing tea in silence with a lover, for example). I want to feel loved dramatically and see serene scenes. And so, I always hope to create this fantastical feeling in the audios.

(Though, sometimes I struggle with the basic rule of storytelling that is to SHOW not TELL with the audios being just that - only in audio form).

I regularly consume art so that I can go into the audios feeling inspired. After all, in order to create something worthwhile I find that I first need to feel captivated by meaningful works of art!

What movies or other works of art have inspired you? Feel free to share with me, I'm all ears :)

(I mean, not literally. I have arms and a tuchus XD)

Wow! I just read through the posts above and think that I have nothing to offer. I am a 69 year old single guy ( my kids say that’s less morbid than widower) , father of 3 beautiful daughters and 2 handsome sons, was the husband of one of the most beautiful people on Earth ( my Texas sweetheart, wife, was taken away from me by Cancer about 5 years ago). Life has been hard, my job is a maintenance supervisor for 19 fast food restaurants, electrical and air conditioning controls specialist. So my background is not in the arts( though 2 of my daughters are artists) but in science and technology. Your craft(ASMR) vocal acting is amazing to me, your “ word painting” is as fascinating to me as watching my daughters draw( for witch I have NO talent at all). Thanks for sharing your gift with those of us that cannot produce such works of art. Draw your inspiration from whatever source that you relate to, but if you stick to making it “ real” ( fantasy or not) then your audience can connect and receive that which you are giving. Your “ life stories” will resonate with many people and you will continue to grow personally and professionally. Love from South Texas 🤠👍❤️

The immersive atmospheres you create really do have a magical and dreamy effect! I listen to epicore/orchestra for studying, driving and working out. It has this aura about it that has really resonated with me. The purpose and peace found while tackling tough obstacles seem to pop out more. Whether completing the next assignment or the next rep, the thematic nature sets the tone like I am getting another step closer to something better. I look in nature when I need to slow down and find joy in the calm and beauty of it. Which has been more, as of recently. Though there can be many stark contrasts found in nature, the picturesque stillness reminds me to enjoy more of the little moments. Your audios add a whole other level of coziness and bliss that brings with it many smiles! Of which I can't thank you enough for!
