VN Dev updates!
Added 2024-12-12 03:22:54 +0000 UTCHi everyone! Time for an update. Thank you for continuing to subscribe while everything is in production mode. I know it's not the most exciting and it's a bit of a content drought.
I finished the second draft of the first episode today. I will complete draft 3 by the end of this month, and in between when I'm writing, I'm working on various graphic design assets that the game needs. This is everything from pause menus to the overhead map.
I've kind of gone all in on presentation in every area I can think of, and I wanted the space the characters inhabited to feel like a real town. Every scene will begin with a view of the overhead map. I've done a lot of mucking around after receiving Reo's beautiful map, and come up with something I'm quite happy with. I've added a Google Maps-like feel with location markers and it's feeling really sharp and clean.
The map changes with the seasons, and several other elements do too, like the color of the Pinecrest sign, the shadow colors used, and even the pinecone in the Cedarville sign. (Note: There's overlapping in the location names because I have all layers turned on. Jo is also near-next door neighbors with the Graingers, so that's a bigger overlap.)


Soul Nero is helping with some leafy layers on some screens, and our menu screen is looking better than it really needs to (but I'm loving it):
Flint is chewing through some of the last bits of sprite work (3 side characters necessary), and Reo continues working on backgrounds (he's currently on Divots Restaurant). All this to say that we're on track! It's incredible to see it all coming together, and we'll even start coding stuff fairly soon too. Hype!
