Jo's Fair - Page 5 (SD)
Added 2021-05-22 21:28:22 +0000 UTCI'm particularly proud of this and the next page. Mouse and I worked together more than usual (normally I just describe scenes and provide references, and he just gets it perfect on the first try 90% of the time) on the visual presentation here. I tried to make these two pages feel like "film", rather than a comic, by utilizing framing and distance from the reader. I really hope that the transition from a close-up, to a mid close-up, to a mid-shot to finish Jo opening up about her past trauma adds more emotional impact to the dialogue; that's what I was going for.
Thanks for your patience on these two pages. They were a lot of work and they really needed to be perfect for how important they are to this story and the series as a whole.

Having to talk about shameful moments with your family with someone is so... difficult. And this captures it in a way I don't think I've appreciated before.
