Again a very profound plot you really have a talent for creating very thought-provoking stories. I find it interesting that Toby shouldn't have any memories of the elephant because he was still too small and his long-term memory was not developed and yet he remembers it. In real life it is often the case that orphans tend to suffer from trauma, even if they grow up as adopted Kids in intact families, perhaps the human spirit has higher proportions from birth that observe and evaluate everything precisely and are not yet accessible. Anyway, that makes Toby even more interesting as a character. I thought he would have had it much easier to go on with life after his mother's death, after all, he was still so small. But it seems that it still bothers him in the subconscious and in his everyday life
