Character Designs and Reference Sheets
Added 2019-06-14 20:58:07 +0000 UTCAny artist will tell you that designing characters from the ground up is difficult work, but it's also challenging to take an established character design and find a new way to interpret it. For example, this is Colson's original character design, art by DeadStrayBear:

Nutria and I did a lot of back and forth and made a lot of tweaks with artistic input and assistance from Riisago before we nailed it down. Colson was the first model we did, however, and Nutria was becoming more confident and comfortable in his new style that he wanted to go back and revise things a final time on the original model he'd done, after the other characters were complete.
Nutria had never drawn this way before - part of coming up with the character designs was first deciding on a line art and a coloring style - and that process was done by doing several tests to find out which one we liked the best, and the watercolor style was what we settled on!
