A note from the creator

Sweet Leaves grew organically (and quite unexpectedly) over a few years of bringing my tanuki OC to life. He wasn't originally intended to be a father, but rather just a "dad" like figure. As I grew older, though, I began to identify more with the gentler side of bara-styled characters, and with a Twitter handle of @tanukidad already in place, a random question popped into my head one day - what if dad was literal?
Toby, Colson's son, was born out of that question. He (and Colson), went through several design iterations, almost as if they were growing up as a family in real life. Now, they have an established story, and a new loving father and husband in Sebastien, whom one of the characters in the comic (which you'll meet in this first arc!) lovingly refers to as a "dadger."
Many wonderful people that I've met over my near-40 years on this planet have either indirectly or directly contributed to Sweet Leaves being a reality, first and foremost the team producing the comic. My friends and loved ones from all walks of life have bits and pieces of themselves peppered throughout the story in various ways. Sweet Leaves draws from my past and present, but it also represents my hopes, dreams, and aspirations for my future.
It means a lot to me (just as I know it does to my teammates) to know someone is reading the result of my (and others') hard work, and I can only hope that you enjoy reading it as much as I have creating it.
