Just realized the auto posts I set up didn't go for whatever reason soooo here's the ones that should have posted.
The prompt today is Eldritch Horror....
This is the Hunter in the pit, a strange entity that exists within the Realms of Madness....
The realms of madness are an everchanging eldritch nightmare. A formless world of emotion, dripping violence, and crushing despair. This world is made of suffering and pure, uncontrolled chaos. However various powerful alien entities have been born into this formless void and brought shape and life into the infinite space. Like a cancer pulsating through reality the corruption spreads, reaching out to every universe, through every multiverse, an all consuming eternity of incomprehensible creatures and mind rending landscapes. Though the realms are always changing, shifting, and taking new forms, some have been solidified and forced into being, constantly taking a similar form as important places or things to these chaotic creatures seem to burn their way into the aether. Of these famous locations exist places such as the Field of Crosses, a strange religious land littered with tombs and crosses, and roamed by various things that emerge from the darkplace surrounding it to cruxify all that enter. The fleshwastes of the Meat Mother, where the throbbing moon of her fecund form drips putrescence into being, and of the corpsefields of Nagoob that boarder these lands. And yet another is the misty realm of blasphemy where the holy dare not tread. Among all of these locations are various horrors that tear away a man's sanity, however there are a few creatures willing to move throughout these lands and has no one territory. The one known as the Hunter in the Pit.
A large strange creature, tanned and fleshy, with protruding veins and lumpy mottled skin, it's back is lumpy with vertebrae that tent it's seemingly thin flesh, It's forelegs are bent and human like, ending in tattered human feet that stand backward on it's tip toes, and it's back legs are similar, but bent like a grasshopper's, and also facing backward with a third digitigrade joint. It's head is an oblong and bloated lump, with a wide crooked smile and massive teeth lining a red and sore looking mouth. It's eyes seem to sit at the bottom of stretched sockets, and strangely enough it tends to have a huddled bald and emaciated human growing from between it's eyes like a nose of some sort.
The creature is as mysterious as it is deadly, moving with a strange and floating gait, taking a leap and hovering silently through the air for several seconds like a drifting balloon before landing again. It moves slowly usually, unless it spots a creature in which it will give chase. The Hunter in the Pit has a strange ability that causes creatures to wish to scream or yell out whenever they see it. They must often bite themselves or otherwise find a way to keep themsleves from making a sound if hiding and they see the creature, or the hunter will hear where it is and know it's location. It always remains completely silent and can stand and stare or watch for days on end in a single position if it feels that something may be hiding nearby. It may even hide on walls or upside down on ceilings, and occasionally waits even if it knows of a person's location, and attacks after they believe that they're in the clear.
It is a large creature, bigger than a camel, and as such cannot reach every location it wishes to traverse too, and as such it will crouch down and release the creature on it's face, called by moth a seeker, or a hound. This creature will detach from the hunter and shamble forward into small areas as it searches for the hunter's prey. The Hunter may have more than one of these creatures at a time attached to it's body, and often times hunters will adhere many still living bodies to it'self and use them to hide among corpse piles, or sit in corners to appear as a pile of corpses itself. All of these bodies can be detached and sent to new locations to track down prey, and these silent zombie like hunters immediately alert the hunter whenever they spot a creature. Whenever the hunter catches a creature, it often bites into it, however it will also simply stand and distend it's jaw, as creatures who see the void within must resist the urge to climb inside of oblivion. On other occasions the hunter has been seen opening it's maw and releasing various creatures out into the world such as the mongrel men.
The pit referred to in it's name is a deep endless chasm that worms it's way through the realm of madness and makes it's way through multiple dimensions. A massive canyon like hole that descends down in the realm of madness, surrounded by various small settlements of displaced humans that found themselves living in such a place. The pit is an endless hole, with hundreds of thousands of branching caves and holes that can be entered by those scaling the cliff's edge. Tunnels may go on for miles only to taper off into caverns too small to fit through, others are maze like and connect to ancient temples, or worm their way to other dimensions or parts of the realm of madness beyond other dimensions and potentially reaching every reality. Some believe this pit was created when the World Shadow bore through the multiverse to touch the radiance of Yggdrasil, others believe it to be the location where the red king first emerged from the madness to sit on the throne of Azathoth, And others believe it to be where the Chicxulub crashed through reality and fell to earth, tearing away the fabric of time and space to allow the old ones to breech our reality, and some still state what whatever made this hole still waits at the bottom of infinity, gnawing through further into oblivion. No one is sure, only that it is an endless pit and that those lost in the realm of madness occasionally attempt to brave it to find a way back to their home. Those that traverse the Pit find strange worlds, entire cities from other dimensions, forgotten skies from distant worlds and remnants of the hunter. The hunter will follow creatures through every portion of the pit, and it will track creatures for lifetimes or even generations. It is believed that this is how the hunter reaches the locations it does, emerging from the pit only to return with new prey.
The Hunter could potentially be a race of creatures, though no one has ever seen more than one at a time. but people have also claimed to have been hunted by it at the same time in different locations. It is unknown if this is because the entity does not follow the rules of reality or physics and can appear in multiple locations at once, or if they are simply avatars of a greater being. Those who attempt to fight the hunter find it to be a difficult task, and while extremely heavy weapons fire can cause some damage, though rarely enough to truly leave a mark, it will slow the creature from pursuit for a short time. Some claim to have seen it completely subsumed by fire and explosions, only to see it years later approaching them with an air of remembrance, or leading parades of horrid things along a nightmarish path.
Though it has no true relation, it has been stated that it is somehow affiliated with the mirror caught entity known as the Politician, and with the painted nightmare, the Blue Gentleman as they all share similar faces and have been seen interacting with one another at one point or another, all three powerful creatures thought to be eldritch minor deities of some sort akin to the Traveler in the dark....
The Government has run across this creature in very few occasions, finding it during war time in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam near cave areas where reports of missing people or monster sightings were reported. It has been the subject of several attacks and operations to eliminate it or infiltrate the pit to no success, and it's appearance actually led to the group known as Argos eventually putting together the organization known as P.R.I.M.E.
For now it's unknown what this creature is. Solely that if one encounters it, they should stay quiet and hide, and if that is impossible...
Run.
This prompt is Old is New.....
This is a Carnadon, specifically a Carnadon Berserker.
The Iguanadon lived about 126 million years ago, and was discovered in 1825 by British geologist Gideon Mantell when visiting a patient, unknowingly setting into motion events that would lead to many more dinosaurs being discovered, and sending the world into a dinosaur frenzy as knowledge of ancient beasts began to flood the world. Years later, in 1890 archaeologists would find bones of a similar dinosaur near an unexplored cave system in Germany. These bones were thousands of years old, but just that. Though it was the find of the century, proving that some dinosaurs had escaped the extinction event to modern day, and learning that the locals had told a story about a creature known as "Daumen Eidechse" for years it was believed that the creature may be found alive. The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn and the Royal Library confiscated the bones and demanded silence of everyone involved. This led to an expedition led by the famed explorer and inventor J.C. Everly Atkinson of the Hermetic order and the Royal library in a joint venture with the Vatican into the cave system, and they found an opening that led down into the planet and an entrance into the Hollow Earth.
Though this expedition would find a great many discoveries kept secret to the greater world, the discovery we are here to speak of today is the creature known as the Carnadon.
During the apocalyptic event that caused the mass extinction of the dinosaurs. Many dinosaurs found their way into deep massive cave structures that led to the center of the earth, which was hollow. Here they would live and thrive in new environments, undisturbed by man for millions of years, and evolving to suit their new environment. The Iguanadon thrived in this underground biome, and continued life for quite some time, until several herds of Iguanadon, separated by location, began to evolve differently. With one family, the Iguanadon became more hunched, and grew a horn to protect itself, and a longer tail that would drag behind it. This creature came to be known by the expedition as the CeratoIguanadon. The other family had evolved to stand more upright, but to walk on it's knuckles like a gorilla as it's fingers became more aposable and it's brain grew to grant it improved cognitive abilities. They became omnivores, though they gravitated more toward meat due to the environment they lived in having more herbivores, and thus making the herbivores a better food source than the food they consumed. They began to learn how to utilize tools, and developed a hard shell like structure to protect themselves from their enemies, which eventually grew to have a pincushion like appearance with massive spikes, akin to that of their thumb, began jutting out from the shell, and eventually they grew into a very long and sharp form of protection..
Carnadons live in tribes, in manners similar to primitive man or apes, building shelters near cave entrances, in shade, and beneath large bent trees that are placed together to make homes or huts. They use their massive spiked thumbs to kill prey and to fight for territory and mates, with the males being those who are vying for female attention. However they have also learned to craft and utilize tools, such as knives, spears, and axes, and even to craft items like maces and clubs using pieces of machinery and technology left by humans and creatures such as the Gobos or the Serpentfolk. They speak a rudimentary language and some even seem to keep records with finger painting using berries or blood on walls. The carnadons are very aggressive and territorial, and are willing to fight almost any creature that moves into it's territory, save for some of the kaiju that exist down beneath, and even then some tribes would band together in hunting parties to attempt to defeat or take down such a beast as food or just for trophies and armor. During the expedition humans came across several Carnadons, and ended up needing to evade them and fight back against the deadly creatures. Some humans were smashed, and a few captured and eaten. Their society seems to be patriarchal, with a single large male known as a "King" by the team, and with several consorts, though often with a preferred consort known as the "Queen". The society is built up of warriors, caretakers, and hunters. The warriors protect their settlements at home, and more often than not aid in building. The caretakers are female and rear the children, and the hunters go out on expeditions in groups of 2-4 to hunt or gather berries, fruit, or vegetables. Among the hunters and warriors are Carnadons dubbed "Berserkers" as they are much more physically imposing than the others and seem to attack with a violent and reckless abandon and a much more animalistic fury, seemingly calling aggro to itself from the rest of the group to allow them to go mostly unharmed. It seems that the hunters are at the top of society right after the king, followed by the warriors, and then the caretakers being at the bottom of the societal barrel with the children.
The Carnadons seem to possess a curiosity with humans, and despite killing them on sight, do seem to find humans interesting in a way akin to monkeys at the zoo. It was witnessed that though they seem to be very primitive, they have learned to utilize medicine already, and use it to heal or soothe wounds, and they also possess organized religion as it seems they revere the core of the earth like the sun, and they also seem to give praise to the Kaiju known as Zolgaga and Makudu.
The Carnadon tribe exists deep within the hollow earth to this day, simply kept from the public eye...
I found this old monster I made of foam clay when I was little, and thought he could be given new life :3
