So let's see what scenario I can come up with: - Becoming the mask: A cosplayer wants to make her eldritch costume more life-like, the costume begin to fuse with her.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Though this also works as another example of a cursed mask, it truly exists as a curse in general, though some are saying it led to one of the most recent cursed mask incidents in our modern history, while others claim that there is much more at play.
This is Noroiko Shitai, a digital idol and part of the group known as Creatu:RE Generation, sometimes just called Re-Generation, Creature Generation, or Cre-Gen. A digital idol group that appeared online in 2008 and one surrounded by controversy and supposedly paranormal phenomena for over two decades. The character was first shared on several image boards and forums before it became known among internet users after art and several midi files were posted to several chan websites featuring the character and her music and stating that they were haunted by her.
The original poster claimed that they had torrented an old anime from the 90's that they had never heard of called Fukushukashu, which was dubbed as "Revenge Singer" in america. Apparently it followed Noroiko Shitai, a high school girl who wanted to be a professional singer, and her friends as they put together a pop group called Creature Generation. Despite it having an english dub, no one recognized the voice actors, nor did anyone recognize the anime or studio that had made it, which sent these sections of the internet into a search for any and all information pertaining to the anime in a similar way that the internet had delved deeply into another Japanese paranormal event such as, the seemingly fake enigma that was Cutie Mimi or the Red Room Curse.
Not only was the relatively little bit of information found on the anime, but the poster was claiming that the anime was the greatest anime ever made and quickly became obsessed with it. Relatively little information was discovered on the anime, learning that the studio which produced it had put out two other anime before it but was listed as having gone out of business the same year as the anime's release and it wasn't listed as being one of the company's projects, nor was there a page for it online. While some internet sleuths found references to it in screenshots for old TV guide channel books and in a few review boards, information was extremely sparse. Those who watched it however tended to agree for the most part that it was an amazing series even if it only had 7 episodes. Others however that were able to get the torrent from the initial poster, claimed that it was a troll as the anime was badly dubbed, badly animated, very grainy with terrible audio quality, and that it was just overall unsettling with strange long pauses, droning sounds of machinery in the background, and occasional unsettling imagery.
The anime was a dark story about Noroiko and her friends attempting to become musical idols, and being signed on to a contract with a shady business man who takes advantage of the girls in various ways, leading several of them to commit suicide, one to fall into heavy drug use and overdose, and finally to Noroiko killing the man and then putting on her final show before killing herself on stage. In the small community it built up in, it became somewhat popular with various fans drawing fan art and creating various fanfics about the characters involved and continuing the dark story, though strangely enough posts pertaining to it slowly started to get banned at an increasing rate.
The story came to a head after the initial poster dressed in cosplay as the character and took the life of two other students before taking their own life, which saw a widespread uptick in information pertaining to the situation for a very short time. Strangely enough afterward, there was a small boom in violent crimes committed by girls cosplaying as Noroiko, all tied to the image board, and a few of them leading to murder and the rest to hospitalization of others and attempted suicide by the cosplayer. Information on the anime got even less accessible with sites where it was located on before getting shut down out of the blue, leaving those that remembered baffled and leading to rumors of the anime being cursed to float around more.
Though all of the early threads are gone, bits and pieces of information from the original thread still pop up from time to time, including information that lead to it becoming a popular urban legend. It was claimed that someone had tracked down a member of the anime's staff, and found out that the creator of the character was a mangaka named Yumei Nagoya who was a very disturbed individual, but created the story based on a true story that happened to her as she attempted to enter the animation industry. In the story it said that she was a practitioner of various forms of occult magic and had claimed to summon otherworldly entities before. It was even claimed that the people in the story were based on real people, and that the creepy music producer in the anime was based on the real life producer that she had worked for, and after the anime was released he realized that the character was him and he became extremely upset, and that she was found dead of an apparent suicide a few days later, with her blood drawing a strange symbol on the wall and possessing several occult books about angels, demons, and other entities. Information pertaining to Nagoya is very difficult to find, though it is believed that some of the story is true as she was found murdered and the producer was found murdered several days afterward himself.
In addition it was claimed that some people who watched the anime would become cursed by Noroiko, and that they would become obsessed with her. Fanart of the character often gets taken down from websites or copyright claimed, and even people cosplaying her have been harassed by strange individuals or doxed online after revealing their costume. Much of the story faded into obscurity after a while, until in 2014 a cosplayer purchased an Animegao Kigurumi outfit (Tights, an outfit, and a full wig and mask of the character, of Noroiko and attended a convention with several other cosplayers who were wearing similar cosplays. During the event, the cosplayer complained about how hot and tight the mask was, and some reported him acting strangely or occasionally speaking with a voice that wasn't his own. After retiring to his hotel room, he was never seen again, though his friend whom had been attending the convention was seen wearing his friend's cosplay on the following day, acting strangely as well, and reportedly with a strange stench coming from him. He was arrested after attempting to stab a business man who was also staying at the hotel, and afterward screaming and attempting to peel the mask off with the knife, badly injuring himself. Other cosplayers at the convention, also cosplaying as Noroiko, were caught in similar incidents at or near the convention, with one of them committing suicide after performing a strange song and dance number, another being caught behind a local business holding a large knife, and a third being shot by a police officer for supposedly attempting to break into a local resident's home with a firearm.
This incident was downplayed in the media, but was called the Anime-girl killer cult on some news outlets as it was reported to be a cult following made up of disturbed individuals attempting to cause havoc. Other bits of information still pop up from time to time with no sources to back it up, such as the original cosplayer being found in the hotel room with his face cut off, and with strange malformations and alterations to his body that did not match any of his previous records (That he seemingly had natural female breasts and several duplicate organs). And that his roommate that had killed him, could not have the mask removed, and it was surgically cut from his face, after which the doctor claimed that the other man's face and his were both grafted into the mask (Which was also made of unidentified human flesh) as if it were naturally that way. Information pertaining to these people, including their names, has been lost to history, though most report that none of them displayed any truly bizzare or disturbed behavior prior to the incident. This leads to a belief among paranormal boards that people who cosplay as the character, undergo a slow metamorphosis into the character, and begin re-enacting plot points or actions that the character had performed, and that the anime is cursed to draw people in to repeat the story and end with drawing others in as well. Some claim it to be only the newest incarnation of ancient entities that would corrupt and possess others and slowly shift them into their own image like a contagion, or that it's a curse placed on the character by the show's creator in an attempt to strike down the producer who mistreated her years ago.
Since then, the anime has occasionally found popularity, with several projects to reboot the series popping up and falling through in the years since, and unfounded reports of various cosplayers pretending to be the character meeting unfortunate ends have arisen, with some even saying that an almost viral like outbreak happened during the same convention but was brought to an end before it got worse, and that some cosplayers have been found with strangely contorted bodies and twisted limbs that have been forced into odd positions in an impossible way, and others claiming that the anime, merchandise, and even fan art of the character is cursed, and that the mere concept of it's existence is dangerous as it's depiction can be seen as a corrupting force in the same way that the internet legend of the Zeiros Geinn painting "The Blue Gentleman" has been perpetuated, and that it could in fact be a form of gargoyle...
For now we can't really know the truth. We can assume it's all hearsay and just an urban legend... but you never know what could really be going on out there...

There's several alternate versions because I couldn't decide on a face and some of them I thought were too "Cute" when i wanted something pretty ugly.... Expect to see this character from time to time in the future as I flesh out her story...
