OCTOBER REWARDS 6

Darkfire57

A doppelganger/clone replacing their original by  being "the better version" of them before cruelly disposing of the original.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a Doppelganger. And accompanied with him are two Pixies. A Pixie and an Apis Pixie.

Doppelgangers are strange Fae that are able to transmute and shift their forms in various ways. They seem to be beings disconnected from tangible reality, and devoid of spatial laws, and as such they are able to transform their bodies to a near limitless degree, mimicking other creatures, or even taking on abstract shapes and concepts as well. It is not strange for a Doppelganger to shift it's form by the second in some circumstances. It's flesh is constantly changing in hue, and it's colors often determine it's emotion, though it occasionally will change the texture and color to blend in with it's surroundings and hide. They often times don't possess a face naturally, and will generate one in a given situation depending on similar faces seen based on the emotion they're feeling, but sometimes forgetting or choosing to not form specific parts they do not want such as eyes, noses or mouths. They often times take the shape of a deer or an animal, with their silhouette appearing animal like until one gets close enough to realize what it is.

Doppelgangers are not only beings of sight and emotion, but also move in patterns and rhythms along the cosmic beat of the universe, thus some of them are drawn to certain locations if the cosmic reverberations please it. They can manipulate sounds, around them and within a sphere of influence around the Doppelganger, and they can choose to weave the sounds into other noises, take them away, or keep them for themselves. This can result in a creature becoming tongue tied or a feeling of being unable to speak or get words out. Like a record, each sound a Doppelganger hears etches it's self into the creature and allows them to play it back or mimic it just as it was heard, and if it hears enough words it can create it's own using the cosmic chords of the universe. Finally, Doppelgangers feed on memories, draining them from other creatures, or learning them from becoming in sync with the creature's life. Between the expressions, emotions, features, sounds, and memories, these are often used as currency for other doppelgangers and for other fey alike, trading experiences and human emotion for other things such as knowledge or magic, and because of this Doppelgangers are known as the merchants of the fey world, able to steal names and gain power over humans in a rather swift manner. Some Doppelgangers are obsessed with gaining names and experiences, and some will allow it to drive them to ruin, becoming lost in specific forms or becoming so riddled with faces and ideas that their forms are twisted, bloated, and strange and they are unable to pass for a creature of their desired type anymore, and some grow much more attached to certain names, phrases, emotions, or other things they come across.

Doppelgangers often assume the form of a creature, and integrate into the creature's life. They will often times do so when the other creature is gone, and the human they are imitating will begin to go insane from this. The human will often be visited by the Doppelganger several times wearing their own face, and they will stalk the human until they either kill themselves or the Doppelganger is able to kill them and assume their life. During this time as the Doppelganger is trying to learn about the human, they may act in a strange manner, imitating their mannerisms and looks but having some of it be a bit... off. Some don't even take a person's place for long and it isn't uncommon for a Doppelganger to take a woman's place, participate in sexual activities and escape back from whence it came so it may become pregnant with a Changeling. (Though Doppelgangers can actually self impregnate while taking the guise of another creature so long as the creature they are imitating becomes pregnant as well).

In combat, Doppelgangers employ all manner of abilities and attacks, evading many blows, hiding and shifting into things one may not expect, and shifting their body parts into various dangerous weapons. They can move and maneuver at any angle, weather it's on the ground on all fours, or otherwise and are almost never hindered in battle because of this. They can also use the knowledge they have taken from other creatures to fight better, using voices and faces of those close to the person to throw them off as well.

Doppelgangers can be very friendly or curious, and many fall in love with humans. Sometimes humans don't even know that their lover is a Doppelganger. Some however are simply out to hurt humans and other creatures as much as possible. There are many kinds of doppelganger, or shape shifters that can pretend to be a person, and they all tend to distrust and dislike one another. Doppelgangers are somewhat common still on Earth and Urth, where most of them are violent and evil, trying to infiltrate human society to get revenge for what the humans had done years ago.

With him we see two Pixies, more fey, which are accompanying the Doppelganger on his gruesome mission.

Pixies are small insect like humanoid fey that tend to have heads too large for their bodies, Small antennae, and childlike frames with incredibly small hands and feet, large black eyes, and big mouths lined with sharp teeth. Pixies also usually possess several more limbs, large barbed insect like appendages that they use to defend themselves or to better maneuver on the ground.

Pixies are adept at using magic of the woods, and they can appear as floating lights similar to Will-O-Wisps. Pixies tend to give off a light glow or possess an aura, and leave behind a glitter like dust from their wings which can be used as ingredients for spellcasting and other magic creations. They can turn invisible, and also create disorienting effects with magic and their wings. Finally they are adept at using silk, which they can all produce similar to a caterpillar, and they occasionally use said silk to craft items or mend the items of people in need.

Ever the tricksters, Pixies like to be mischievous and cause trouble for people by interacting with, breaking, or damaging every day objects and being a nuisance. They can also be quite malign and lead people, especially children, into the woods and get them lost or taken by the fey.

Possessing a hodge podge of insect like qualities, many Pixies possess some form of toxin, the ability to create silk, loud noises, or a painful bite, or sometimes most if not all of those things. Pixies can be dangerous in large groups as they become empowered and may be more willing to attack in those circumstances. Most are omnivorous, but many are carnivores and similar to a swarm of mosquitoes or flies, they may swoop in and begin biting their targets with a small swarm of pixies able to strip a cow of it's flesh in roughly 15 minutes.

They also possess a form of telepathy which they use to speak to other fey or their allies within range. Pixies tend to use natural objects and locations as their homes and belongings, and will alter things slightly to suit their needs (Such as hollowing out a tree and introducing furniture to it for their home, and they will often weave traps and snares using their silk similar to a spider.

Along with this Pixie is an Apis Pixie, which have a lot of bee like qualities, including a large stinger, and the fact that they follow large, wasp like fairies and live in hives. They can fire the stingers from their butt at a long range, and they are often filled with honey as nourishment, giving them cute pot bellies, or very round bellies for those whom are carrying it for more than themselves. Other than that they are similar to other kinds of Pixie.

Pixies are the somewhat larger version of Sprites, and smaller than fairies, and are a bit more dangerous, though sometimes pixies will rule over small congregations of sprites and control them like a swarm, and they often accompany other fey among their travels. They also tend to work alongside other animals and creatures, and sometimes use large frogs, badgers, raccoons, deer, dogs, or wild cats as mounts in combat, with sprites using even smaller creatures to their advantage.

Fairies, Sprites, and Pixies are used for their magic ability and dust by spellcasters on Urth, and some are familiars to spellcasters. it is not uncommon to find them lurking in primal forests or swamps, or on occasion, even seducing humans and other creatures. On Earth they tend to avoid most humans, and are only occasionally seen in the woods.

Comments

Just seeing the face on the other side of the original body speak out in horror gives me shivers. It's like she still has consciousness or whatever. BRRRR.
