Backstory Reveal & Poll: What Does Willa Do for a Living?

Hey everyone,

As the story deepens, I’ve found it important to flesh out the characters’ backgrounds in a meaningful way.

Before Nora (the Aunt) was introduced, most of you knew Willa simply as the widowed stepmom raising a daughter and stepson. But behind that familiar image is a more layered family history—one that connects these two women more closely than you might expect.

Willa became a single mother while still in college.
Faced with a surprise pregnancy and an ambitious future, she had to make a difficult choice.
Instead of dropping out, she turned to the only person she could trust: her younger sister, Nora.

While Willa continued her studies—first through college, then into a demanding career path—Nora stepped up, raising both Willa’s biological daughter and the player on her farmhouse.
But to be clear: Willa didn’t vanish. She remained present whenever she could, co-parenting with Nora whenever time allowed. Eventually, once her education and career stabilized, she fully resumed her role as mother.

I believe this kind of shared upbringing adds emotional depth and realism to the story—especially now that the player is older, and starting to reflect on the different kinds of love, support, and attention he received from both women over the years.

What Did Willa Choose as Her Career?

🩺 Doctor

Willa spent years becoming a licensed medical professional — now she runs a small clinic in town. She may seem cold and strict, but under that composed shell, she’s doing her best to hold everything together.

Gameplay Impact:
In the future, you might visit Willa’s clinic for “groin pain”— nothing shady, everything strictly professional.

🎓 College Professor

A sharp mind with sharper opinions, Willa is now a respected academic at the local college.
You’re not even sure how you got accepted, but you have a sneaking suspicion Willa may have pulled a few strings in your favor. Nepotism? Maybe.

Note: I’m leaving her exact field of study open for now— it’ll be shaped by future updates.

Gameplay Impact:
When the college area is implemented, you’ll have a chance to interact with Willa after class— including some exclusive, free tutoring sessions.

Prefer Willa to remain a mysterious widow with her current lifestyle?
Then this one’s for you. Her role, status, and dialogue will stay untouched— leaving her job open for dynamic development later. Or, if you’ve got ideas, feel free to share what career you think would suit her best.

After the poll, some of Willa’s existing dialogue may be adjusted slightly to reflect her new background.
Don’t worry— this won’t mean a full rewrite. It’ll be light revisions to keep everything consistent with her updated role. The heart of her character and her relationship with the player will stay intact.
