LONG LIVE THE HALBERD
Yes after literally half a year, I'm back again. Patreon's been running me RAGGED for one thing...but also I freely admit, a full scale mecha transformations scene like this really did stump me, at least for a while. The really difficult thing was that originally, I did try to stick to my standard page size/length so far, as this is still a comic, and I wanted to try working within those boundaries.
As a result of that, however, what ended up happening here was I finished page '11' of the transformation...but because I was still unsure if it was quite perfect, or if I needed to move panels around on page 12, I couldn't post it. The result was a 'completed' page 11, and a half done page 12, which is unfortunately where I was forced to leave it for the last 4 months at least.
Last month however was probably my best one on Patreon so far. I enjoyed the jobs I got so much that I actually blitzed through them (plus an extra one that had been hanging over my head for months) fast enough I actually had a whole 3 days to breathe before April started XD
it's a sad life when that's a good month
Anyway, I got back to it, and after a bit of tinkering I decided that in this case, sticking to the standard comic page size so far was just going to limit me too much. Not only would it make two entire pages worth of nothing but a transformation sequence (which I'll be honest, started as a mecha and ended up as something more like a magical girl transformation sequence) but trying to fit all of the scenes from my head in just wasn't possible.
And that's how we got this! Pages 11 AND 12 all rolled into one long ass piece of black and white transforming mecha goodness!
I hope you all enjoy it, I did my best to cram as much detail and dynamism into each stage as I could!
That said, I also hope this is enough to give you guys a fun little glimpse at the glory of Halberdette's final design...which unfortunately may need to wait a bit longer, as it's time to get back to work.
Still, this is definitely one of my busiest pieces yet, and I'd say unique too, given what it is. Hope you all like it!
