(SFW) Echidna Von Talon redraw

So, a funny thing happened coming down to the end of last month. As you know, it was the end of the decade and all that, plus I'd been taking a rare moment of downtime to just...think, I guess. Looking back on all my previous works, including some of my writing!

Ended up chatting with some members of the RP/worldbuilding group I used to run on DA (Division Omega, you can find it in a folder on my gallery there) and ended up looking over some of mmy stuff for it, as far back as the pencil and paper days!

Which led me back to Echidna here, my first foray into real kaiju/monster designs, especially of the babe kind XD

One thing lead to another, and given what I learned drawing lewd dragon milfs from Dragalia Lost (fuck yeah Mercury) and Kulve Taroth from Monster Hunter (you know exactly the kind of pics I mean *eyebrow waggle*) I figured what the hell, why not give this a try? Maybe see if that whole 'draw this thing from X years ago in your current style' was all it was cracked up to be.

...and for the most part, it was pretty interesting!

Though I can't say I'm entirely happy with it to be honest. While my anatomy and proportions (or at least my ability to play with them XD) has definitely improved, I feel like I lost some of the...I dunno, energy? of the old version. It's more foreshortened, sort of, and Echidna there looks coiled and ready to pounce, whereas the new version is a bit more...patient? Like she's just prowling around, or simply waiting there, all spooky like.

It might just be me being hard on myself too, I guess.

Anyway, I did a greyscale version at first, but then the lackluster feeling I just discussed continued to plague me, so I did the colored version too, just to be safe. Aside from that, I made a few minor changes here and there, since the old design kind of didn't really click with the newer, more cohesive artstyle I've developed.

In the end, i can't say for sure if I'm entirely happy with where I've reached in my art, if I lost some things along the way or not, but I definitely did improve.
