The Sorcerer King - A glimpse to the past...

Bruce Wayne, Boot Yard – New Camelot

“No, no, wait, wait, WAIT!” Wally shouted while two dozen automatons fired a kind of spells towards him, similar to the runic cannons he had seen in the bastion, but evidently smaller

Wally evidently ran to escape the attack; however, Tinky had several tricks up his sleeve, and was able to predict where the young speedster would run, giving him a spell on the side and sending him to the ground

"Tinky is disappointed, Tinky expected more resistance from his new apprentices" said the little clockwork elf from a floating platform, watching as the members of the Young Justice team were on the ground, defeated and humiliated

"Shouldn't we intervene?" Clark asked, watching with some suspicion as the boys received the beating of their lives

Alas, Bruce shook his head and spoke

"It's a good lesson for them, a reminder that, even with special powers or abilities, they are still vulnerable, Tinky is a good teacher, none of them are seriously injured," Bruce said sincerely, causing Clark to nod calmly, but without saying a word

"Are you still worried?"  Bruce asked rhetorically, he already knew the answer, he just wanted Clark to vent

Superman sighed and said

"It's complicated, I don't consider Harry to be a bad man or a ruthless tyrant but, I don't approve of his methods, they're too much..." At this point, Superman hesitated, his internal conflict more than evident

"I don't like it either, but if this Light he mentions is as dangerous as it seems...we must take the proper precautions," Bruce said cautiously, causing Superman to look at him with surprise and betrayal

"Do you agree that we should execute these people?" asked Superman

Bruce quickly and firmly denied

“No, I'm not, however, it's evident that our containment methods have not been effective at all, it's important that we reach some kind of compromise," Bruce said, while caressing Selina's hip unconsciously, really lost in thought

"HAHAHA and remember pupils, even if you possess superhuman powers or special abilities, you are bound by the limitations of your own mind, you are human and think like humans, which makes you predictable, don't forget this lesson, now get up pupils, it's time to increase the difficulty" Tinky said with a tone of sickening emotion, like a child who was eager to try his new toys,  At the same time that, on top of the two dozen flying combat drones, twelve humanoid figures appeared in an emerald glow, they were huge, at least two meters tall, with bodies made of enchanted bronze, heavy shields in one hand and a kind of runic cannon in the other

“Tinky will be benevolent, stun mode!” said the mechanic Ser, jumping again and again on his platform

The boys looked at each other cautiously, with the exception of Connor, who looked at the new automatons with determination, after all, he could hit them

“Should I held back with your toys?” Connor asked, only to receive a sharp punch in the face from one of the automatons, sending him several meters backwards

"The fight does not warn you; the attacks of the enemies always came when you are most vulnerable, you will learn adaptation, so decrees Tinky!" said the mechanical being, while another long and painful lesson for the young began

Selina looked on with obvious interest, but in total silence, while Clark couldn't help but comment

"That thing hit a Kryptonian in the face and threw him like a sack of potatoes, and apparently, in here, they're considered cannon fodder for the sorcerer supreme," Superman said cautiously, and Bruce understood him perfectly

After all, if the simplest combat automatons could physically fight a Kryptonian...

What secrets did he have in store? Bruce trembled at the thought of it, and now more than ever, he had to have some contingency plan against the sorcerer supreme

The problem, however, was that he had no idea of Harry Potter's magical reach, beyond his near-divinity to his people

He didn't know the biology of a wizard, his life expectancy, his differences from normal humans, he was totally blank, and all his techniques and tricks of obtaining information seemed to be useless in this place

He had only been able to tell a few pieces of information from the words of the curious being that trained the boys, New Camelot was relatively speaking, a new city, the wizarding world of Homo Maegi had not been unified for long, and Harry Potter, subdued all these ministries in one way or another

In short, it was a centralist magic regime

And a fairly efficient one apparently, Bruce thought, he had seen no poverty, had not seen beggars or lazy people on the streets of New Camelot, remembered the magnificence of the city, as well as the space exploration department, it was evident that Homo Maegi, unlike conventional humans were unified and taking the first steps of space exploration

A dangerous precedent, at least for world governments

However, there were two terms that he believed were key to understanding the political state of New Camelot

The Great Unification and Draconic Reforms

The first was quite simple to intuit, Bruce imagined that it referred to the moment in which the sorcerer supreme began his conquest of the magical world, however, the second term was even more interesting

Interaction with the goblins had shown that New Camelot had vassals, who were evidently unhappy with the current regime

An opportunity to explore, thought the bat

Bruce's thoughts were interrupted by the appearance of another of the mystical portals, another fucking headache, he had to find a way to block such a means of transport in his home

And an instant later, the elegant figures of Zatanna and Diana appeared, the young witch looked cautiously next to Diana, while the Amazon did not deign to look at them and simply walked towards the training ground

“TINKY! Prepare my training session," ordered the princess, the fury contained in her voice was more than evident, to such an extent that the four brats ran out of the place, directly to where Bruce, Selina and Clark were

The little being, wisely, did not respond, only moved its mechanical fingers over the control sphere, causing the drones to return to their rest stations, only to replace something much more terrifying

A dozen winged mechanical maidens, all with terrifying bronze spears emerged from the hatches of the training room, making the former soldiers look like pieces of scrap metal

Bruce watched as the group of automatons surrounded Diana and, without saying a word, the spears began to glow with an unknown magical power, unleashing a storm of lightning on her, who threw herself into the fight with a war cry

She was really furious, Bruce thought cautiously as he watched the fight

“What happened? Why is she so upset?” Clark asked, grimacing at a powerful punch from Wonder Woman, so powerful that it threw the mechanical maiden several meters into the air, although apparently without any damage

Zatanna grimaced and said

“We had a... In a discussion with the sorcerer Supreme’s wife, Diana didn't take too kindly to the fact that Harry was... well, married," Zatanna said with a grimace as she saw Diana being thrown to the ground by two of the winged maidens

Clark nodded calmly and said

“I understand, so, did accept Diana that her thing with Harry is in the past?” Superman asked, causing Bruce and Selina to shake their heads

"Oh, no, she didn't, in fact, she threatened Talia that the place as queen of New Camelot belonged to her and well, other things," Zatanna said blushing completely, evidently remembering something of the conversation

“Zatanna, do you have any information about the Great Unification and the draconic reforms?” Bruce asked curiously, hoping the sorceress knew what those terms were about

Zatanna looked at him in surprise, before nodding slowly

“Yes, any Homo Maegi should know that, it is basic history of magic, the Great Unification is how the conquest of the ministries of magic, who previously functioned as independent nations, began, this happened two years after the second Blood War, when a group of former followers of the Dark Lord Thomas Riddle, attack and exterminate the Weasleys, one of the magical families closest to the sorcerer supreme, during a wedding of a family member," Zatanna said in a teachable tone, capturing the attention of everyone present, adults and young people alike

“The former Ministry of Magic of England dismissed the attack as an accident, detracting from the formal complaint of the sorcerer supreme, the answer? The declaration of conquest, Harry James Potter had appointed himself Sorcerer Supreme and decreed that, from that moment on, all the Homo Maegi of the world would be under the jurisdiction of New Camelot, as you can imagine, they all laughed, for seven days, the ministries around the world joked with Potter the Mad, until Harry returned,  accompanied by a regiment of arcane automatons, and accompanied by Lady Commander Nymphadora Tonks, the captain of all the red furies and the current minister for magic, Lady Daphne Nott, England's Ministry of Magic fell in a single day, much to the shock of the rest of the wizarding governments, who were no longer laughing at all,  those responsible for the attack were executed by Harry himself, while their heirs were sterilized, exterminating the magical lineage of five families, after that, he demanded the total submission of the Lords of the Wizengamot to the Bronze Throne, and after the extermination of five families, they all agreed” Zatanna said, causing horrified faces in the boys and Clark,  as well as acceptance in Selina and Bruce

"I suppose the process was repeated around the world, hence the name unification," said the bat with certainty

Zatanna nodded and spoke

“Aye, after the purge in England, the most important families in Europe, magical families who, for generations, had accumulated wealth and political power came together, hired magical mercenaries, beasts, even werewolves and goblins, who had been seized in England, forming a more than considerable magical army, they all crossed the English Channel,  with the sole aim of defeating the Sorcerer Supreme before it was too late” Zatanna said

"And what happened?" Wally asked, totally absorbed in the story

Zatanna looked at him calmly and said

“The first Arcane Bastion in history was deployed”

At those words, everyone grimaced, perfectly understanding what was not being said

"It was a total massacre and Harry didn't show an ounce of mercy, all the werewolves were executed, as were the mercenaries, the magical families tried to beg for mercy, and they didn't find it, it was a message, a powerful one that was received loud and clear, the rest of the ministries and families who didn't participate in the fight just knelt,  with one exception, becoming vassals of New Camelot, who had risen as the ultimate magical authority on the planet, and just at that moment, when all power was in his hands and there was no one powerful or stupid enough to challenge him, the draconic reforms were enacted," Zatanna said, stopping her words as she watched Diana scream and try to plunge her sword into the mechanical maiden,  who dodged the attack and lifted the Amazon only to slam her to the ground again

“The draconic reforms were signed after the siege of Limbo Town and the death of Mordechai Bleak, it is a codex linked to the magic of the planet itself, designed by the sorcerer supreme in person, with the sole intention of protecting and making the magic of the planet flourish, all the ministries signed and sometime later, so did the rest of the magical races vassals to the bronze throne,  some willingly, such as the veela, centaurs, unicorns, elves and dwarves, some by force, such as the goblins, orcs, giants and Trolls, at the end of Unification, all bowed to the bronze throne and before the sorcerer supreme” Zatanna said soberly, seeing the worried faces of her companions

"But…if the Sorcerer Supreme is a conqueror, why does the city look so... you know?” Robin asked

“Prosperous and peaceful? Simple, the Sorcerer Supreme really cares about the well-being of magic and consequently, with the well-being of all magical beings, a vision imposed on the rest of the ministries, the laws are firm enough to guarantee dignified treatment and decent pay to ordinary wizards and witches, giving them a real chance to grow within the new order.  but flexible enough for the owners of capital to continue to have considerable profits, it is not the best system, but it works, plus it is not like a wizard or witch require a lot of gold to live, magic is a great ally and a trained magical user can take care of almost all their needs without a really considerable cost, within their responsibilities is also the protection of magical shrines,  homes of unicorns and centaurs, which were being cut down for magical plants and ingredients for exotic potions, now protected, the dwarves were forced to live in exile thanks to the goblins, that also changed, the Muggleborn and the half-bloods were treated with contempt and as second-class citizens, with shitty jobs,  that was also changed, forcing the old family heirs to really apply themselves if the wish to shine in the new order, the leadership and constant presence of New Camelot guarantees opportunities for all, that is why it has the support of most of the wizards and witches of the world, it gave them purpose, it gave them a meaning and it gave them a goal and most importantly, it did not demerit magical superiority, but it nourished it and took it to the next level” Zatanna said,  looking at Diana, who was inhaling air forcefully after the vigorous workout

"This situation is more problematic than I expected, I will have to chat with Constantine to prepare contingencies, there are too many variables and coins in the air" Bruce confessed, sighing heavily

Zatanna rolled her eyes, at the same time Diana returned, now calmer and said

"Oh my God Bruce relax, New Camelot has been around for a decade, and Harry's focus is prosperity, expansion and protection of magic, it's his job as Sorcerer Supreme, believe me it's public knowledge that he's not interested in world domination, although maybe that would be the best option for everyone," said the Amazon with a sigh,  At the same time another automaton elf appeared and began to wipe away her sweat with magic

“Did you manage to convince him not to kill Luthor?” Bruce asked bluntly, making the princess sigh heavily.

"That's what I'm doing, he seemed receptive to a kind of non-lethal punishment, I know he thought of something, I don't agree with killing Luthor either, not like that, I know I can make him come to his senses" Diana said with certainty that Bruce did not share, although he would trust her old friend to make such a dangerous man come to his senses  

Clark sighed with relief, at least this showed that the Sorcerer Supreme could be reasoned with, something really promising

"Zatanna and I will remain here to prepare, Harry ordered that arcane armor be designed and provided, it is a process that takes time, they will have to take care of the surveillance in my absence" Diana said firmly

Selina snorted, and Bruce stifled the urge to do the same, the real reason Diana wanted to stay here was more than obvious

And it had nothing to do with any armor

"I understand, don't worry, I know the helmet is a priority, we'll take care of it," Superman said calmly, ignorant of Diana's ulterior motives

At that moment, Tinky appeared winged by the group and said

"Father says that dinner is served, Tinky will take you to the dining room" said the annoyed being and, without giving them a second to answer, the whole group disappeared

Something told Bruce that the dinner in question would be much more interesting than the previous meeting

Lex Luthor, Torre Luthorcorp – Metropolis

 "Again," said the bald genius, frowning at the screen, only to see the same message again

"No results," replied the computer

"Adjust the parameters and energy spectra twenty percent and reiterate," he orders, walking like a caged lion, watching the computer do a scan

“No results” same shitty response

“DAMN!” he shouted as he threw the statue to the side of his desk against the wall, trembling with anger

But also of something that was not common in him

Fear...

This new player, this... Sorcerer Supreme... he wasn't like Superman, no sir, Lex Luthor was very clear that, if he did something against the Sorcerer Supreme and discovered him... Lex would be executed without thinking about it

"Adjust the refraction patterns of the UV rays, analyze any distortion that indicates camouflage," Luthor ordered, at the same time that his private terminal received a call from someone interesting

Quickly, Luthor ordered

"Clara, I'm not here for anyone" while clouding the windows of her office and answering the call, showing the family image of the... ally... of Lex

Vandal Savage

Frowning, Luthor spoke

Lex frowned, that was... really worrying, to be honest

"Klarion?" asked the tycoon, making Vandal exhale forcefully and speak

"No answer, it's better this way, the Sorcerer Supreme's range is greater than expected, we were able to steal the helmet because he wasn't aware of our existence, but if Ras spoke…we have someone dangerous hunting us” confessed Vandal

Lex just nodded, he was really aware of that

"I will move my contacts in the government, the Sorcerer Supreme has no friends in Washington, it will be easy to organize problems, I can mobilize Ultraman and force a confrontation, it is important that we understand our enemy," said the genie, making Vandal nod

"It's a good plan, do it, I'll take care of some personal problems, I'll collect a favor with Adam and send him to you, if our enemy is supernatural, we must know his limits," Vandal ordered

Luthor raised an eyebrow at the man's tone, but it was evident that he was really distracted and preoccupied with the New Camelot affair

"We're in touch," Lex said, ending the call, standing up and walking to a wall in his office

Lex had a bad feeling, whenever he thought of the Sorcerer Supreme a chill ran through him, as if his own mind warned him that it was not wise to meddle in his affairs

Alas, pride and arrogance were more powerful than the sense of self-preservation, Lex firmly believed that by studying his enemy completely he could find a way to defeat him, in the same way he did with Superman...

How wrong he was
