Where Pain and Pleasure Meet - Part 13 (Public)

- A new Final Fantasy celebration – starring Cloud, Tifa and Sephiroth.

Having been left alone awhile by his captor, Cloud struggles to free himself from the steel pole to which he is bound wrists and ankles alike, by trying to stretch himself sufficiently far upwards to be able to lift the chain over the top of the pole and thus free his arms. However, it soon becomes clear that the upper bar is too high, that the chain is too short to lift over it; stretch as much as he might the manacles about his wrists impede the progress of the chain well before it can top the pole. But, that still leaves the chance of drawing it far enough to escape the end of the crossbar. With another deep breath and with his head forced hard back, Cloud stretches himself, seeking to free the chain – and himself with it. The strain in his body is painful, his breath ragged as he struggles at full stretch, the chain grating against the steel of the pole. And then, with a final effort, the chain slides free of its mounting! Cloud gasps with mingled effort and relief – and extends his fettered right arm as far as it will go. But that brings his left wrist up tight against the upright; he remains bound to the pole… All the same, his hopes have risen; now he will try to free the chain from its mounting on the left side – and that will give him enough slack, perhaps, to unloop it and free himself from the pole.

With another deep breath, aware that Sephiroth may soon return, the boy begins a further bid for freedom, craning back his neck to study the mounting of the chain and to see if he can repeat his success on the right hand side over on the left. If he can but slide the chain free of its other mounting then he too can be free! Stretching his body taut, straining up awkwardly on tip-toe against the ankle fetters, Cloud seeks to create a few more millimetres of slack which may be enough for his purpose. He is so close now – so very close! Forced to draw breath and ease the strain, he relaxes again, and casts his eyes aloft to gauge the distance, and then rises and reaches again with absolute determination. This time, surely?  This time…….
