Imagine the scene: Marvel HQ, deepest Hollywoke. Various 'writers' (sic) are sat about scratching themselves, drinking soy latte and trying to come up with ideas for yet another Thor movie.

"OK, so we've met cultural agenda target No 1: a mortal woman is worthy to wield the hammer, while the God of Thunder isn't. Got that?"

"Sure - it's obvious. He's a man - right? Clearly totally unworthy."

"But what if the fans don't like it?"

"Then they're toxic and we ignore them, like we always do."

"But they might not pay to see the movie."

"Yeah - there is that, I s'pose... Say, what if we get Thor naked?!"

"Great idea! And do a scene like the one with He-Man in bondage in front of Skeletor in the 1987 movie!"

"Yeah - with Chris Hemsworth standing in for Dolph Lundgren!"

"Power bonds - and a laser whip!"

"Na - no whip. Too culturally sensitive. But yes to the power bonds - and naked."

"But isn't that objectifying a man in a way we'd never, ever dare to with a woman? Doesn't that make us hypocrites?"
