I'm guessing it was Winnifer's idea because they talked about her negotiating that with them before she showed up. I think Winnifer had the brainwave of sating her nerdlust before the con *and* simultaneously setting up an alibi to throw suspicion off her by delaying the stream to the point when she'd be at the con itself. Of course, as soon as the boys at the D&D session start blabbing about the timing...
