Update // Karmic patterns

There are certain patterns that emerge when you do something frequently enough - like casually checking social media for a laugh and walking away with three new existential crises or telling yourself you’re absolutely getting things done today, only to “rest your eyes for a moment” and waking up in a different season.

Over the last 7.5 years my patterns have woven themselves into a comical tapestry across these updates: from saying “I’m gonna keep it short” and still ending up with a larger word count than the Spanish constitution to saying things like:

“This should mean - and let’s not speak too loudly lest karma hears us - that May should proceed relatively smoothly. “ just for karma to adjust its hearing aid and crack its knuckles.

Needless to say, the rest of the month went about as smoothly as gravel: from the printer sabotaging what little was left to produce, to getting to the convention just to lose half my stock in a parking lot on the first day, to coming back with a viral load so high my house nearly became ground 0 of a new pandemic.

You’d think I’d learn to keep my thoughts to myself, but I guess I’m too fast for that kind of wisdom.

So trending onward, let’s get on with the actual update:

In closing

Try as it may, karma has nothing on my remarkable ability to ignore counsel so here’s to me, for getting through yet another convention with a compounded 4 hours of sleep per week, for muscling through my sixth round of covid and for shoring up just enough brain cells to write this mostly coherent update.
