"The Mongrel of the Brume would like to discuss business with you."
As promised- if a bit late- the commemorative piece for my 4th Patreon anniversary: a do-over of my first piece ever, the Ruby of Doma.
I wanted to keep a few things similar- the simplicity of the piece, the focus on red as a motif. But then I also wanted to do something that showed substantial change, such as a bolder style (yes, inb4 'looks like Persona' art) and rougher, more liberal lines all over to show that I have progressed to a stage where I'm comfortable trusting the process and letting lines just flow organically.
Which is really a lie. As much as I kept telling myself "let it goooo" I am still a control freak over my lines and I initially drew this in spotless, crispy lineart before I started the process of drawing over it all to give it that casually-messy-but-somehow-aesthetically-pleasing look. Maybe in the next 4 years I'll actually manage to stop gripping the pen like it owes me money.
Either way, I hope this piece serves as my love letter to you guys - the ones who've been here for 4 years and the ones who've been here for a day. You make everything I do possible and I wouldn't be here, doing the only thing I've ever really been good at, without you.
From the bottom of my itty, bitty, arty heart: thank you. I love you all. <3
(Edit: I decided to make some contrast changes after sleeping on this, so those of you who got to see the earlier version will now have been notified over this newer one!)
