Hello my Sweethearts!
It’s Wednesday again! And coincidentally it’s also the end of January.
I didn’t even notice how fast it happened. Being an introvert I prefer to stay at home and having an opportunity to work from home gives me a great sense of comfort. But after years of working from home and going out only for photoshoots or to buy food (with rare vacations), I think I forgot how to properly interact with people outside.
It was always interesting to me how some people voluntary decide to shut themselves in. Of course there are many reasons leading to it, them being mental problems or an unfair harsh society we live in. At least documentary films I’ve seen about this topic said so or I was able to grasp.
But after many years I found another reason - type of work. Turned out my work, both photography and now technical design in gamedev, requires me to be constantly near my PC. And with the further development of social media you end up having all “socialization” on the internet. Now when I’m writing it feels a bit sad to be honest. )
On the other hand after many years I managed to build a small community of people who technically share the same interests with me. Maybe not all, but it was wonderful to find such friends. Thank you very much for still looking out for Dzikan photography and sharing part of your heart with me. It makes my heart warm and happy. )
I was thinking hard on what project to work on in February. Should it be the lighter project or should we pick the one that will take a lot of effort in post-production. February is the shortest month in the year and I was always thinking that it also needs shorter and easier projects. But it’s only 2-3 days shorter than usual. Also looking back at our previous February projects I can’t say that they were that easy to pull off.
I spoke to Tao and he suggested to choose the project that NEEDs to be done or later it would gain no attention at all. I agree on this.
I usually choose characters that I had a connection with or enjoyed. But another point is relevancy. How long it’s relevant and will be. Did they manage to leave their mark?
Of course we have projects that doesn’t have any relation to anything and just our personal “wish”. We have the project that NEEDs to be done and it also belongs to that category.
When I suggested it to Tao he rolled his eyes with fear, but agreed that it’s necessary to work on it now. It’s just tough. Every image needs extra attention to details. That’s why our Tao tried to push it back. Only once he gained enough confidence, but that time voting went to another project. )
Even I feel a bit disheartened when I see the amount of work. Don’t get me wrong, the project looks great and I love how we managed to get as close to the original design as we could, but a lot of details need to be polished. )
We have very cool projects for the future months and I think it’s necessary to have tougher projects now, because it’ll help to boost the creative mind and heart of our retoucher. Because those projects are so good, they need that creative boost to look flawless.
Also tough projects are a great way to improve faster and learn more.
The main project for February will be Demi from Subverse game, a sexy android that will help on your space journey, captain!
I hope, even if you are not familiar with the game and character, you’ll be curious to see more and how it would evolve.
January rewards will be sent to you on this weekend. The reason to not send them now is I just don’t have enough time to sit and prepare everything to be sent. Compiling everything, uploading, writing messages and posting takes a whole day. And I was tasked to work on a whole new game at my other job. I hope you'll be understandable on this.
Also, it’ll give Tao some extra time to polish some images. )
Have a great day! I wish you a warm February!
