2B Bride first look update!

Hello my Sweethearts!

How are you doing? How is your first full autumn week went?
It’s already starting to get a bit chilly outside, but sun still shares its love with us. I hope cold period of the year will be shorter this year. I read a lot of news about floods happening/happened in many parts of the world because of abnormal amount of rains, and it makes me worried a bit about upcoming winter. Also this summer became the hottest summer ever in history. There was a saying at place where I lived: The hotter the summer, the colder winter will be. I HOPE it won’t be so.

I got a little bit late with the post even so the first look was already waiting on my “desktop”. I needed time to adjust to my side job and also we needed to recheck our plans for the future. Decide on what to do and in what direction Dzikan photography will go. What projects we’re interested in and what projects we need to do. How and what place to make our main shooting ground since we left russia. This main obstacle was already in work, but still many questions left unanswered and need deeper research.

Funny thing - all serious talks are happening after vacation. Every time. )
Another big part of our discussion was “living” plans. Where to go, where to try and make the decision to stay. We both share the same opinion regarding “settling down in one place” - before you’ll make your final move, try and live there for some time (at least for few months). It’ll show you how things really are and help to remove “rose-colored glasses”.
But it seriously depends on how we’ll plan out Dzikan photography part. And our side jobs. After all, moving to a new life lies heavily on financial preparation. And just “trying” cost a lot, especially after seeing prices for rent going high all over the world.

I’m starting to talk about things you probably know better and more than us, so I should get to 2B Bride photoshoot. )

To be honest we didn’t expect that, because we had a feeling that once again nier themed photoshoot will not be met with enthusiasm. But I’m really glad that it wasn’t so. )
To think logically Subverse photoshoot sounds a bit uncertain/unclear, what the end result will be and when. Even we weren’t.

Let me share the first look. We decided to go with the most clean look/style possible for this project. Because what can be more pure than crispy clean white. )
One thing that bothered me on set a lot was badly built cyclorama. For my friends who don’t know what cyclorama is, basically it’s a background that goes on forever. It should create the effect of endless clear white panorama without any spots. In case of white cyclorama bounced light also creates soft ambient light all over the model.
If you place your light sources right, you’ll get very pleasing image without a need to constantly switch your light scheme, only move your key light (in case you need to shoot something fast and efficiently). In short, key light is your main light source which defines the end composition. All other light sources work to support it. I simplified it a lot and my сolleagues here will probably have a better explanation/definition.

There are rules for building the correct cyclorama, but most of the studios doesn’t bother to follow them. The most common thing I see is building it right in front of the windows, when the window wall becomes part of cyclorama. Basically you have only one cyclorama-ish corner, which creates complications in creating even background with light sources. And on top of that they might not provide proper “blackout” (in many cases heavy black curtains that block the outside light completely). So the sun will become your enemy for the rest of the shoot. )

Unfortunately, It was the case for the 2B Bride photoshoot. Tao evened all photos on the first step of color correction and might not be big of a deal, but a bit irritating, when you have to pay good money to rent the set. )
