Regarding Bricklink Errors - Reply in comments!

Hello everyone!

PLEASE REPLY WITH ALL PARTS LISTS YOUVE EXPERIENCED ERRORS WITH, I WILL TRY TO FIX IT BEST I CAN.

UNTIL THEN I HAVE A TUTORIAL FIX BELOW.

You may have remembered back in February I had to manually re-adjust nearly 150+ Parts List XML files because of a massive overhaul update to Bricklink.com (that nobody wanted and has caused a headache for everyone using the site).

Unfortunately since then there’s been random errors on random pieces that by all accounts should work (like the hinge piece).

When I prepare the parts list I always have to manually upload them first to test them and the ones I release always work just fine.

Then, weeks later, they suddenly stop working.

I have a fix for it below, please use this tutorial when you can.

THE FIX:

When you receive an error when uploading a XML parts list file, please do the following:

-write down the piece number of the pieces causing the error as they are shown in the error message

-manually search those piece numbers in Bricklink search and cross reference match them with the same piece in the visual parts list at the back of the instructions PDF. Then write down the piece color and piece quantity needed for the build.

-open the XML file in your desktop browser via a text editing app (typically whatever it defaults to when you double click the file)

-ctrl+f to open the search feature; search the piece number for the afflicted piece; delete the paragraph associated with that piece; save the file

IF THE PIECE CAUSING THE ERROR HAS A LETTER “a”, “b”, or “c” NEXT TO THE NUMBER (ex. “44302a”), simply ONLY delete the single letter “a” and save the XML. The Parts List should then load just fine and be a COMPLETE parts list without errors or missing pieces.

-try to input the XML file back into Bricklink. Without the error piece the wanted list should form perfectly fine. Note it is now MISSING the piece you deleted.

-finally, remember to manually add the error pieces via their Bricklink catalog page as outlined in step 2. Double check color and quantity matches the back of the instructions. Click add to wanted list, and add it to the monster wanted list.
