Hey everybody, Merry Christmas! And for those who don’t celebrate Christmas, I wish you a warm and happy holiday season. I know this is a big post, but this is also a big update with lots of new systems and information, so I recommend reading through it carefully. Let’s dive in.
I’m excited to share the Placed Gifts Update, which introduces a completely new way for your Sims to give and receive gifts. This was inspired by real-life romantic reveal videos on social media, where one partner surprises the other with something they really want, a favorite console, a birthday cake, or a piece of clothing. I wanted to bring that exact feeling into The Sims.
The Passionate Gift mod already allows meaningful romantic gift-giving, but it has always been limited to items I personally added. Even though I plan to add more over time, some gifts will always be outside my plans.
For example, in my latest household, I wanted my Sim to surprise their partner with a PS5 for their birthday. The console was a placed object, and even if it could go in the inventory, I didn’t like the default in-game gift interactions. The only workaround was awkward, giving a different gift, transferring money, switching households so the other Sim could buy it themselves. It technically worked, but it broke immersion.
That’s exactly where this update comes in. Anything placed on your lot can now become a gift; a TV, a gaming console, a custom piece of furniture, or even something as simple as breakfast. The animations are inspired by real couples and genuine surprise moments, so you can recreate meaningful reveals naturally and realistically in your game.
And yes, for those curious, he finally got his PS5, which started all of this.

I know many of you love CC shopping as much as I do. This update lets your Sims gift anything you want, including CC items from your favorite CC creators.
Unlike the usual gifts, where Sims must have an item in their inventory to give it, this update allows your Sims to gift items placed on their lot.
Any newly placed object on your lot can become a gift. That includes furniture, electronics, appliances, décor, and even creative stuff like hanging dresses or Clothes.

For the gift to feels intentional, only newly placed objects can be turned into a gift,
Most objects work automatically, but some custom or in-game objects might not register as “New.” For those, there’s a small debug interaction that lets you tag them manually as giftable. This also opens up creative options, like gifting breakfast or other items you might not normally place through Build/Buy. Once an object is eligible, you’ll see the Reveal Gift interaction.
Sims can give items to other Sims in the same household or to Sims from other households. a husband and wife could give each other a laptop as a personal gift, which would then go into the recipient’s inventory. For larger objects, like a TV or a new bed, the item stays on the lot, serving both as a gift and a surprise. For instance, if a Sim buys a new bed, you can use the update to surprise their partner with the reveal, or set up a birthday moment by placing decorations and a cake, then revealing the cake as the gift. These moments are designed to feel more immersive and accurate to real-life surprises.

For Sims from different households, gifts will go directly to either their personal inventory or their household inventory, depending on the item.
In previous Passionate Gift updates, I usually created the gifts first and then designed animations and emotional reactions around them. For this update, there aren’t specific gift items, so I focused on making something universal, no matter what object your Sims choose to gift.
That’s where gift categories come in. By watching clips and movie scenes of couples surprising each other, I identified five distinct emotional tones: playful, elegant, wholesome, romantic, and intimate. These tones guided the animations and reactions, giving each gift a clear feeling. The goal is to make a simple, intuitive system that makes sense in-game, letting you pick the emotion you want for your gift, whether it’s a gaming console, a plate of cookies, a piece of furniture, or a CC item.
You can think of the categories as the mood or type of the gift. At first, I considered tagging each object under a category, but that would limit CC use since custom objects can’t be tagged. Instead, it’s up to you to decide which gift fits each category best. By choosing what kind of reveal you want youre sim to play.

To give gifts intentionally and avoid the interaction appearing on every object automatically, your Sim must first purchase a Gift Set.

Each Gift Set corresponds to one of the five categories, playful, elegant, wholesome, romantic, or intimate, and defines the tone of the reveal. Think of it as setting the mood for the gift, the Gift Set unlocks the Reveal Gift interaction and its associated animations for that category.
Once the Gift Set is in your inventory, the Reveal Gift pie menu becomes available on all newly placed objects. You can either buy one Set or multiple sets.

Inside the Reveal as Pie menu, you’ll find all the categories for which you’ve purchased sets.

Gift sets are inventory items; they can't be placed outside. If you want to get rid of them, you can sell them from youre sim's inventory.
The gift categories exist to separate and organize the animations, not to restrict gameplay. All of them fall under the Romantic interaction category, since every reveal is meant to be a romantic moment in some form. You are free to use any category however it fits your story, your Sims, or your gameplay style.
Each set defines the emotional tone and reaction of the reveal:
Playful Gift Set: Energetic, teasing, and lighthearted. Ideal for fun gifts, playful surprises, or anything meant to spark joy. The animations are happy, giddy, and full of energy, like a spontaneous surprise gift.

Elegant Gift Set: Refined and impressive. Best suited for luxurious items, furniture, electronics, or stylish household upgrades. The animations are more poised and confident, focused on admiration and composure.

Wholesome Gift Set: Warm and sentimental. Perfect for cozy gifts, heartfelt décor, or emotionally meaningful surprises. The animations lean into closeness, with hugs, gentle touches, and comforting embraces.

Romantic Gift Set: Casual and affectionate. Designed for everyday gifts, bedroom upgrades, romantic mementos, or milestone moments. These are shorter, relaxed animations made to work naturally across many scenarios.

Intimate Gift Set: Personal and private. Best for close, intimate gifts or enhancing shared spaces. The animations are more passionate and flirty, with Sims showing deeper attraction and desire.

With this system, you choose the feeling of the gift reveal, while the gift itself can be anything placed on your lot, giving you full creative freedom. to create anything you want, like gifting their favorite drinks.

The categories technically represent the type of gift, but you can also think of them as the type of reaction. A Playful Gift Set can be used for a luxurious present if you want a giddy, more surprised reaction.
Each Gift Set category comes with its own distinct animations, designed to show the recipient’s reaction to the surprise. For this update, I created nearly 20 unique animations, with several more that didn’t make it in time and are planned for a future release.
Unlike my previous passionate gift updates, every animation has both male and female variants, bringing the total to almost 40 animations in this update alone. so now the male sims won't be left out
Within each category, there are four or more animations, divided into two tiers based on the value of the gift:
Lower-tier gifts trigger softer, smaller reactions.
Higher-tier gifts unlock bigger, more expressive animations.
This system is entirely price-based. More expensive gifts result in longer reactions, while cheaper gifts have smaller animations.
To help players recognize this in-game, higher-tier interactions appear with shinier, more glowing icons.

As shown in the screenshots above, not every interaction icon is shiny. That’s because each category has its own price threshold for what counts as a higher-tier gift. This was intentional. For example, Elegant gifts are meant to be more expensive, so their threshold is higher than Romantic gifts, where something like a large bouquet of roses might already be considered a big gesture.
Here are the price thresholds that trigger higher-tier animations for each category:
Intimate Gifts: Higher than §600
Elegant Gifts: Higher than §1000
Playful Gifts: Higher than §400
Wholesome Gifts: Higher than §140
Romantic Gifts: Higher than §140
Low-tier gifts are not downgraded versions of higher-tier ones. They also have some unique animations and reactions, so you don’t need to rely only on expensive gifts. You can gift whatever fits your household or your gameplay style,

like in the clip above, this is an Intimate low-tier animation (Cheap Gift)
Each gift category has its own distinct unique outcomes,
Playful and Wholesome gifts mainly grant Happy buffs, Romantic and Intimate gifts lean toward Romantic buffs, and Elegant gifts focus on Confident buffs.

Gift value also matters. Higher-tier gifts provide stronger buffs, and exceptionally expensive gifts can grant even more powerful effects.
Gift interactions in this update do more than raise relationships. They also increase relationship Satisfaction, making gifting feel impactful beyond short-term moodlets.

In addition, this update introduces five new long-term sentiments, one for each gift category. Repeatedly giving gifts within a specific category will eventually unlock its corresponding sentiment. Each sentiment comes with its own benefits and reinforces the emotional tone of that category.
More expensive gifts make it faster to unlock these sentiments. Over time, your Sims’ gifting habits shape how they feel about their partner and their relationship as a whole.

Each sentiment influences your Sim’s emotions and helps strengthen and boost building their relationship with their partner over time.
If your Sims are away from home and want to surprise someone with a gift, do not worry. This update introduces a new Gift Service designed specifically for gifting on community lots.
The idea is inspired by romantic hotel or resort experiences. When visiting a fancy resort, you can pay for a curated surprise setup, This service works in the same spirit.
On any community lot, Sims will see a new interaction called Purchase a Gift Service. on their phone, the Shopping section, similar to the gift set,
After purchasing the service, Sims can gift items on a lot they do not own. You still decorate the space yourself, and the service will make the gifting possible.

Once you have purchased a service, you can place any item you want to gift and then use the Reveal Gift interaction, as long as the item’s price is within the service limit. You also need to purchase the gift set category you want so the Reveal Gift animation reflects the tone of the surprise that you are planning to do.
There are four service categories, and each one unlocks gifting for items up to a certain value. Higher tiers allow more expensive gifts.
This makes it possible to create romantic moments anywhere. A surprise breakfast at a café, a decorated corner in a park, or a meaningful gift reveal on a date night lot.
Gifting an item outside the lot will make the recipient the owner of the item. The gift will go either to their personal inventory or their household inventory, depending on the type of object.
Disclaimer: When using the Gift Service picker, you only need to purchase one service. Please do not select multiple services. While the system will still function if you accidentally choose more than one, you will lose the extra Simoleons spent, so choose carefully to avoid wasting money. I will fix it later so that it won't allow you to choose multiple options,
As mentioned earlier, every newly placed object can be considered “new” and eligible to be gifted. However, not all objects count automatically, some debug items, food, certain CC items, and even some in-game objects may not register as new. Additionally, if you plan a gift but forget to give it, it may no longer count as new.
In these cases, you can Shift + Click on any object and select Turn All Objects Into Giftables.

These interactions allow you to gift any object you want, without any restrictions. This opens up more creative ways to surprise and delight your Sims, like gifting a pizza takeout, a bouquet of flowers you picked or crafted, or any scenario you can imagine. Your Sims’ gift-giving possibilities are now as limitless as your creativity.
You can click it again to turn off this feature, or simply wait a little while and it will revert to normal automatically.
This is still a Passionate Gift update, so your Sim will need to have had their first kiss and share enough romantic relationship points for any of the new interactions to appear.
Both purchase interactions are available in the Shopping category on your Sim’s phone. The Gift Service option will only appear when your Sim is off their home lot.
Once you’ve played the Reveal Gift interaction with a Sim who is not in your household, they will take the gifted object with them. Be aware of this so you don’t accidentally give away something you didn’t intend to.
