(PREVIEW) Ride Together Update 0.5 | (Pets & Romantic Interactions)

Hey everyone! It’s been a while since the first Ride Together release! I was actually working on something bigger for a while, but as time passed, a lot of parts in that project just weren’t coming together the way I wanted. I didn’t want to stay quiet for too long, so I decided to take a break from that and switch my focus to this update instead.

At first, I thought this would be a simple side task, since the Ride Together system was already made, I assumed adding pets would work the same way. But it turned out to be much more complicated than I expected. Pets in The Sims are harder to work with than they look, and the selfie system was another feature that needed a lot of extra testing and fine-tuning.

Still, I really wanted to release something new for everyone to enjoy, so I turned all that work into this update.
It adds two big features:

• Ride Together with Pets

• Romantic Interactions + Selfies

Both took longer than I planned, but I’m really happy with how they turned out and how naturally they fit into the Ride Together system.

◆ Ride Together with Pets:

I really wanted to make it possible for Sims to bring their pets along for a ride.

Now with this update, you can take small pets (cats or small dogs) with you when you ride.
It’s a small feature, but it adds a lot of warmth to the gameplay, and it wasn’t easy to make.

I don’t have the same tools to animate pets as I do for Sims, and animals move in a completely different way. Pet rigs work very differently from Sim rigs, so I had to rebuild some of my older ones, recreate some parts from scratch, and sync them with the bike rigs to keep everything as fluid and believable as possible.

✨ How It Works:

• Works with small pets only (cats and small dogs).

• Your Sim must have at least 30+ friendship with the pet.

• The interaction is available under both Scenic Ride and Casual Ride (no extra menu needed).

• Riding together increases the pet’s Play and Affection needs, and raises your friendship over time.

Small notes: Play and Affection are the equivalent of Fun and social needs for Sims, but for pets.

Ride Types:

• Scenic Ride: your pet sits carefully on the back of the bike.

• Casual Ride: a portable net automatically spawns so your pet can sit safely.

Originally, I wanted to make a dedicated “net bike” variant, but it conflicted with the risky animations, so I went with a dynamic version that only spawns when needed, this keeps everything compatible and smooth.

◆ Romantic Interactions & Selfies:

The second part of this update brings more social interactions and connections between Sims while riding together.
Now, your Sims can share small, romantic interactions while seated on the bike,

There are 9 new interactions total, three interactions for each riding style. These are all driver-initiated and only available when the bike is stopped.

Those romantic interactions don’t only appear on the romantic rides, they’re available on all ride types, but only for Sims who already have their first kiss and have at least 30 romance with each other.

Ride Together Selfies:

Those aren’t overrides, they’re new poses and interactions I made specifically for this update.

These kinds of features are harder than they look, there aren’t many selfie mods that actually add new selfies instead of replacing existing ones. That made this part much trickier to create, but I really wanted to add something fresh that works smoothly in-game.

There are over 30 custom selfie poses in total, split between friendly and romantic versions. I didn’t want to clutter the menu with separate interactions, so the game automatically picks which type to use depending on your relationship with the other Sim.

• If your Sims are friends, you’ll get access to the friendly selfies, playful, lighthearted, and relaxed.

• If they’re romantically involved, you’ll unlock both the friendly and romantic selfies, adding kisses, cuddles, and softer, more affectionate poses to the mix.

Selfies work exactly like the in-game version:
Just click Change Pose to go through the options. There aren’t specific categories yet, so you’ll cycle through all the poses.

In total, there are 30 poses, divided into:

• 10 poses per ride type

• 4 friendly and 6 romantic for each

Notes on the Updates

The whole Ride Together system is still an experimental setup that I’m improving step by step.
I keep learning more about the game as I go, and with every update, I try to fix older issues and make things more stable.

The travel glitch is now fixed, Sims can travel now while they are still together on the bike.
However, there are still a few minor issues I’m aware of.

For example, when Sims or pets get on the bike, there might be a small animation delay or glitch before sitting.
Sometimes the pet might appear in a slightly different position for a second before snapping into place. It doesn’t happen all the time, but you might see it more often if your game is running a lot of mods, lagging, or playing on high speed.

These are small details, but important to how the system works internally, since I’m attaching both the passenger and the pet directly to the rider and the bike. Some of these quirks are necessary to keep the animations running smoothly, but I’m still working on polishing them all and making everything feel as seamless as possible.

⚠ Warning about black photos

EA added a fix for the black/blank photo issue in Patch 1.119.109, but the fix only applies to newly taken photos. Pictures that were already black before the patch can’t be restored. Some players are still reporting black photos when they store them and reload the game, so this isn’t fully gone yet.

From my own tests, to stay safe, try not to store selfies/photos in non-shared storage or keepsake-type boxes, because that’s when they most often turn black after reloading. Keep them placed in the world or in the Sim’s inventory if you want to keep them.
