Thank you everyone for the well wishes, your support is humbling!
What a weekend. It was sad going in and joyous coming out. Uncle Rick has a long road ahead of him and will need continued love and care, but the entire visit took on the festive air of a barn raisin'.
It was a fairly large group and we'd all come from different states. Josh's dad (Ricks brother) was there, and that dude is a dynamo of a work horse. He had us knocking out honey do's to make life a little easier for Rick and his beautiful Korean wife, Sandy.
We replaced 4 toilets, rebuilt a pillar from scratch, felled a tree and still managed to play so many games of darts, pool and ping pong that my elbow is sore. The dogs made a new friend and had an amazing time exploring the property, and Sandy fixed us several Korean dishes. We had Carby? Spelling? 2 kinds of Kimche, fermented and fresh, ginger red pepper chicken and homemade wontons.
Sandy's garden is the stuff of my wet dreams, and she has much to teach me.
Josh finally spent some real quality time with his dad, nephew, uncle and sister, I finally beat his dad in pool.
What the future holds for Rick is yet to be seen, but he was in good spirits supervising us all, and even shot a couple rounds off on the Remington 700. I was the only one taking photos, so I'm not in any of them! Typical. Our hearts are full and we appreciate every one of you.
Oh, and I encountered a cloud of bees. 4 stings, 2 still bothering me and welted up the size of a 50 cent piece. Joys of summer.
