The responses of these characters, their inability to communicate or despair just seem so much more real to me. As viewers, we are talking or even yelling at our screens telling them what to do or what to say, but the story continues to follow the more typical, real and raw response where things aren’t always wrapped up in pretty bows. It’s easy to understand how they get to where they are or will be going. Life and love especially are messy. There is joy and happiness, but the road is often bumpy with lots of ups and downs. And sometimes you just don’t continue on that same ride with the same people you originally start out with. That’s why Japanese BL’s are more relatable, but I can certainly use the fluff and prettiness of the majority of Thai or even some Korean BL’s.
