I think Bua genuinely was scared to lose his friendship with Chian. He seeks validation from tiktok because he gets no attention or love from his home life.

The contrast of hearing his moms argue and looking for views/likes makes sense to me in a modern gen Z kind of way. He obviously has some rejection/abandonment issues. He’s conflating genuine love with social media popularity, so when Chian pulls back and therefore his views, it probably feels scary and something akin to losing love, being rejected and abandoned. It’s so interesting how this whole premise wouldn’t be possible 10 or 15 years ago for just an everyday kid but it seems like an epidemic problem now with our parasocial relationships with faceless strangers. I’m really liking this, it’s a very fresh and clever and I’m LOVING the wardrobe and styling too 😃
